also depends on where you are going and size of plane. .. international tends to have more space. . some smaller planes ALWAYS run out of room and standard carry ons still don't fit. .. also international will get your bags out pretty fast usually b/c you have to get them before customs and such so it's a different baggage claim. . so if you're doing any largers liquids or even taking tweezers, nail stuff, it's easier to check. .

okay haha can you tell i LIVE on airplanes. .

where are you going? If it's only over an inch it really might fit and if it doesnt . . worse comes to worse they will just check it from the airplane. . you won't have to go back to the gate or anything. . so it's worth trying.

I take a lot of short flights (FH lives in North Carolina) and on those planes, you can take your carry on to the gate, but then have to gate check it. At least you don't have to pay for baggage checking that way. It's annoying though because you have to wait by the plane after you get there for it to be given back to you. There just is no overhead or under-seat room.

I just got a new bag that's a little bigger than my usual carry-on to use for our honeymoon and I'm so excited.
