Lutheran/Protestant/Catholic Differences? HELP!

Can anyone recommend a pretty Episcopal (Lutheran, Protestant, etc) church on the South Shore (close to Massapaqua) or else somewhat close to Hicksville?

Thanks ladies.

NO one else married in a Lutheran or Protestant church?

Also, silly Q...but can someone explain the differences to me between Catholic and Lutheran or Protestant?

Re: Episcopal Churches on South Shore

there are three branches of Christianity...when people started having differences in opinions in about 1000 it split...the Roman Catholic Church (ruled by Rome) and the Eastern Orthodox Church (ruled by Constantinople)...this includes Greek Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, etc

in Europe in the 1500s there was another split...this time from the Roman Catholic Church...since they wer 'protest'ing...they became known as 'protest'ants...there are a myriad of protestant groups...being that many people had different views on what Christianity should be...Martin Luther=Lutheranism, John Calvin=Presbyterian, Henry VIII=Anglican/Church of England

some things that changed were the sacrements (only baptism and confirmation are around in Protestantism) and to get to the Christian God, one did not need a priest, but went directly to GOd...(no confession, etc)

although Henry protested only to get a divorce and did not change the policy too much...so there are many similarities to the Roman Catholic Church...in the US the Anglican Church is the Episcopalian....therefore there are many similarities to Catholicism, however the pope is not supreme...

geez...can you tell that I teach the religions in global studies???

most people who are baptized can get married in a Protestant Church, but the reverse is not as true for Catholic Churches

hope this helps

I am Lutheran and when I was little I asked my Pastor what the difference was.

He told me that the ONLY difference is that Lutherans DO NOT pray to saints. We believe to pray directly to God. Meaning, we don't do the Hail Mary's and all that other kind of stuff. Also we don't go to confession or reconciliation (sp?).

ETA: I have a Lutheran Church on Hempstead Tpke. in Levittown. It's called Good Shepard Lutheran Church. It's a cute litte white Church. Unfortunatly I am not getting married there, my FH is Catholic, it was part of our agreement to get married in his Church. Hope I helped a little!

Good luck!
