any ideas why my internet turns off everytime i close my laptop??? my computer stays on but for some reason my internet turns off and i get kicked off of aim...any ideas how to change this??

One of my gripes with my mac is that I keep getting kicked of AIM, I have no idea how to fix that but I've never had a problem with the internet, are you using safari?

yeah...and it signs me off of my wireless service and when i open back my computer it tries to get on another wireless internet instead

Sorry you're going through this! I'm having the same problem right now! Are you using AirPort? When I first got it, I hooked it up myself. A few wks ago it wasn't responding, so I shut it down as per troubleshooting, restarted AirPort, and ever since, it goes offline when I leave it alone for a while. I have no idea what I did to get it to stay connected all the time!!! And I'm a Mac person for years!! I have to have my BIL check it out. If I get any answers, I'll post them for you!
I do know that to set up AirPort, there is an application called AirPort Setup Assistant, and you click 'Setup an existing AirPort Base Station' since you've already input this info into your computer. This may be where to start, but I don't want to give you wrong info.

hi! i've never had this issue with my macbook...are you using aim or ichat? also, do you have your wireless connection set up as 'default'...i think you can do this in network settings.

Click on the Blue Apple in the top left corner. Go to system preferences, click on the 'network' icon in internet and network. Click on configure, then options. Uncheck 'disconnect when I log off'

I use iChat because I have a really hard time with aim and getting kicked off. I sometimes have a problem when my computer goes to sleep but I think the solution that Mathteach posted should help. Good luck!
