FH wants to buy me a MAC for my birthday. Both our computers (laptop and desktop) are getting old so eventually we'll need to upgrade both. What should we get, a macbook or a mac desktop? I like the idea of a lapto but our still works and I thought a desktop would be better in the long run..
Thoughts? Anyone who has a Mac, what do you think about it?

Re: Mac help
i have a MacBook and I love it! FH has a MacBook Pro. I love that I can take it anywhere. Apple is the best. Desktops are nice, I've had a few in my life. I like laptops much more

Re: Mac help
Depends on what you are going to use it for.
Laptop – email, web surfing, social media, word processing, photo processing, pretty much everyday things.
Desktop – Video editing, autoCAD, high-end graphics editing.
You can always hook the laptop up to a monitor if you want a bigger screen.
I say go with the laptop....

I have a huge *** imac! lol I love it... but I am a graphic designer so the work I do I could never do on a laptop.. I guess it all depends on what your needs are. You can always set up a laptop on a desk and connect a mouse, so it would act more like a desktop computer. Ideally I would have my imac and then an ipad for fun :)

Re: Mac help
We both have MacBook pros and love them! I'm computer illiterate, so if I can get used to it, anyone can! I have the 13 inch and FH has the 15. I love both. I like mine for portability (I'm in school) but I like his bc of how big the screen is.
FBIL just got the 27 inch desktop for Xmas and loves it! Mac is awesome, so it pretty much depends on what purpose you're looking to get put of it...

They just upgraded the macbook pro. Now's a great time to get one. The iMacs they may update again soon, thats always something to think about. Also, if youre used to a larger screen then an iMac could be better but with the laptop you can always use spaces, which will let you have several separate screens at one time.

I just recently switched over from a PC to a MacBook Pro and I LOVE IT! Pretty easy to learn and I just love the look and feel of it.

I have a 27inch iMac and I LOVE IT! I am a graphic designer so for me, the iMac was the better choice for my home office.
But if you're using it as a 'home computer', go with the laptop. It's less expensive and will have everything you need.

Re: Mac help
We are getting a desktop after the wedding because I need it for editing. Plus, I never seem to have a reason to bring my computer with me anywhere so I'd rather the desktop.
