Mac to PC

Mac to PC

I am thinking about switching over from Mac to PC for my home office. When the baby comes, I will be doing a lot of work from there, but I also want it to be easier to post and e-mail pictures, etc. I think the PC is better for that stuff. (proven by the fact that I can't even post pictures on this site....)

How hard do you think this will be for me? I have only ever used a Mac. I am so comfortable on them....

windows is very similar to Macs OS...since MS stole it...

I hope you will be liberated with the right mouse button!!! I don't know how Mac users go without it

Re: Mac to PC

The reason why you cannot post pictures to this site has to do with LIWeddings programming- not your Mac. I have a mac and I would never go to PC- the reason being is that mac users NEVER need to worry about virus protection b/c 99.9% of all viruses are written for Microsoft operating systems.

With that said- if you DO decide to go to the dark side- you won't have too much to learn, because the operating systems are very similar.

Of course, if you are running MAC OS X, you will be disappointed because the windows versions are no where as cool or user friendly as X. If you don't have X I would recommend you try that before you switch to PC- I have it and it is the best operating system I've ever used.

By the way- I have a right click on my mouse- they make them for Mac now.

Sassy you may as well have written that in Chinese.

I have a Mac OS 9. I don't know anything about what X means. But my husband will get me whatever I want to make the home office do-able. Do you suggest that for me? - Do you have any posting pictures tricks? I can't post ANYTHING. I would rather not switch over, but everybody tells me that a PC is so much better.......

Re: Mac to PC

well...I have always used PCs...and never received a virus...b/c I don't click on anything that I don't know what they are.

Macs did have the market on graphics, but PCs have taken over for the pure fact that more people use them and the tech companies are going to put money into PC development

Mac has also been on the brink of bankruptcy on a number of occasions...MS actually bailed them out - so they woulnd't face monopoly charges...I don't want to invest in something that is not compatable to other programs...if there is a chance of it disappearing...

Re: Mac to PC

Mac OS X is the new operating system. If you are running 9 you should upgrade to the next operating system which is X (10)...

I wouldn't worry about Mac going bankrupt anytime soon- with their new operating system getting RAVE reviews for the NYTimes to their iPod system.. they are here to stay. The only time they had real trouble was before Steve Jobs came back- but now that he is, the company is doing fine.

And it is proven that the graphic programs still run faster on Macs than PCs...

I would say try the upgrade first- will only cost you $100..then if you don't like it you can always try a PC

Oh, Jenny...what a predicament!

I used to be a MAC-head...my very first job used the small desktop Macs that you could carry home with you...but, they weren't nearly as 'portable' as laptops today

I have found that Macs are really better for graphic artists/designers and PCs are better for office applications. JMO.
