Macys alterations

Macys alterations

Hi Ladies,

us 08 girls are trying to get a ball park range for alterations at Macys. I think we all came to the conclusion that they do not cap their prices. I was wondering if any ever got their dress altered at macys and what was the price range and what did you get done.

Thanks!

I don't know what they charge for alterations, but PLEASE do not use the Herald Square location! One of my friends purchased her dress from them, and they ruined her dress. It was HORRIBLE - a few days before the wedding she was in tears and almost had a nervous breakdown because they messed everything up!

I had my dressed altered at Macy's and we paid around 300-400 if I remember correctly. That was to add a strap, shorten it, take in some on top and of course a bustle. I have pictures in my profile from my first fitting.

They are rather expensive- my mother wanted to have it altered there though since they have experience altering Demetrios dresses- it was just easier for us to have it done there.

Good luck!

Re: Macys alterations

my girls got their dresses from their, and only 2 of them had alterations there. MOH needed alot... the boobs taken in, the waist taken in(hers was the only 2 piece) and a hem, it cost $140, and was only supposed to cost 100 but when we went to pick it up they said it took more work and when she tried it on, it still didnt' fit, and they removed some beading and were supposed to put it back on but they didn't

My other bridesmaid, litterly needed a hem, and a tiny tuck in the boob area, its was $90!!!

I had a bustle put in my dress by a seamstress outside of macys, and it cost me $50!!

they are a rip off, and they do really crappy work IMO.

take the dress elsewhere if you can. HTH

Re: Macys alterations

They were pricy. That's part of the reason why I didn't have my BM dresses thru them,

My wedding dress was about $150 to alter

Bustle, cups and taken in on the sides (not to mention the extra that was paid in the beginning for the hallow to hem).

Def pricy, but I agree with the other girl who said her mom wanted to her to go there b/c they specialize in Demetrios. That was my mom's rationale too.
