I ordered a Demetrios Couture dress today (It would not attach to this posting for some reason so I will attempt to attach it separately) in ivory from Macy's bridal since the one I tried on was in ivory and everyone seemed to like it. I think Ivory has a 'classic' look to it and being that I'm hoping to get married in a vineyard I thought it was appropriate, yet I can't help but wonder if I'd like it better in white... how long do you have to change your mind about white/ivory? I love the dress itself, I couldn't have created a the dress of my dreams any better if I tried. Anyone else struggle with the white/ivory issue? Also, any feedback on Macy's bridal (good or bad, I'm looking for honesty here) would be much appreciated. I also got my tiara and veil on order from them too. Thanks so much in advance... you all are so helpful!

I also got my dress from Macys Bidal, the one in manhasset right? I worked with Faye who was really nice and she is a seamstress also. They treated me very well in there and I love my dress. I ordered mine in the diamond white-it is not the stark white, but not totally ivory. I love it. I havent heard any horror stories from there but i'm sure there are. Which style of demetrios did you order?

sounds like me!! I ordered my dress way in advance from MACY's in smithaven mall in smithtown. the ladies there were great! I was struggling with the whole white or ivory thing too! My dress is DEMETRIOS and I had originally tried it on in the ivory (more like diamond white) and just to satisfy my curiousity they got a white sample from another store and a couple weeks later I went and tried it on and decided to go with the ivory. I LOVE IT! what style did you get? see if you can get the sample and try on the other color. Once it's ordered you can't change your mind!

Thanks ladies... the Demetrios style # is 126-1144. I was trying to sleep, but I'm really struggling with this white/ivory thing. I'm freaking out a bit b/c I signed the contract today... not sure I can change something like that. I had my mom with me and I LOVE the dress itself, but I think I might want white... I need MOH's opinion, but I already signed...
I still can't seem to get the image of the dress uploaded on here... I had it resized and it's JEPG... not sure what the problem is...

You should call Macy's tomorrow morning. Tell them you are unsure about the color and they should hold off on ordering it. Since your wedding is over a year away, they probably haven't ordered it yet.
If they don't have your dress available in white to try on, maybe they have a similar dress in white for you to try.
YES... that is it! I had a hard time getting it to upload... I finally got it under another post, but thank you for finding it and posting it here for me... any thoughts on this in ivory for a brown hair/brown eyed girl?

That is a beautiful dress. When I ordered mine, they told me I think (could be wrong) that it comes in stark white, diamond white and ivory. They made a definite distinction between the two. Find out if its available in those colors. I am thinking that they didnt order it yet. I would call and just see what your options are. I really love the dress.

i used them and was told that once the order was placed i couldnt change the dress so i took my time placing it. i also worked with faye and she is great and a wonderful seamstress. some of the girls upfront could be a lil nicer

I just called (couldn't sleep over this) and b/c I need to come in for a 'hollow hem' measurement... the dress is on hold until I do that anyway and b/c my wedding isn't until '06... they told me that I can do that up until the end of this year!!!! How awsome is that? Now ready for something funny, after I called I glanced down at the bottom of my contract and it says 'Hold for hollow to hem' Duh! It's amazing at how when your not calm you miss silly details! I'm glad I called anyway, I got the girls name that told me that I can change the color. She said the veil's on hold too and she put notes in under my account, so it was worth the phone call
Geez, I see the next 2 years are going to be fun. Glad I'm doing this in '06... I'm too 'high stress' for this. I think I'm going back to bed, FH is resting so peacefully while I worry about dress colors.

I found their prices to be more than everywhere else. Its amazing since they are the offficial Demetrious Distributor. But the dress I really wanted was $1600 there but $1300 at RK and $1200 out on LI.

I also found them to be pretty expensive for both gowns and BM dresses. I looked at a BM dress that I saw at two other places for $165 and it was $215 at Macy's .

My dress is also Demetrious and very similar - I went with Ivory and it looks beautiful in person!! I'm very pleased.
