Macy's Bridal - Go or Not

Macy's Bridal - Go or Not

Hi Ladies,

I want to start making appts to visit salons and was wondering what you thought of Macy's. I have been to the one in Manhasset as a Bridesmaid and wasn't too thrilled with their seamstresses.

My mother wants to try the Macy's in Lake Grove and I wanted your opinions on service, appts, selection, and their sewing abilities. I'm so scared that I will find a dress I love and poor sewing abilities will make it unrecognizable!! :(

I appreciate all of your thoughts/comments!! Thank you!!

I was not thrilled with the service at macy's in manhasset at all. I was a bridesmaid there. To me it seemed like they over booked there appointments and then did not offer any attention.

I actually found my wedding gown there, but my mother refused to let me order it from there, she wanted to find a place that would give us more attention, and better service.

let me also mention, they have cancelled my appointments numerous times, due to over booking...

If you decide to go

I recommend to work with Jen, Evelyn or lilly to try on dresses

Lucy or Rosalie for a seamstress

the prices are a bit high for alterations, but she is good

I used to work there....and everyone is not at the same level of niceness....but the ones I mentioned should be great!

Good luck!

I would not go.

My sister's dress didn't fit the day of the wedding (they took it in to much and when she picked it up they said she couldnt try it on bc it would wrinkle, not to worry it would be fine and my sister said ok.....so on her wedding day it didn't fit, she had to wear no corset)

and the detachable train did just that - it was held on by hooks with thread and all the thread ripped even though my mom asked for them to reinforce it.

Thank you for your advice. I just got off the phone with my mom and I was telling her what you all said - she said forget it, we're not going. I think these posts, along with my own experiences, just make us a little concerned. I feel bad if some of the women there are nice, but the others are ruining it for them.

I had a great experience at both Manhasset and Smithhaven bridal salons. The seamstress at Smithhaven actually measured with the BM dress on to get the best size for me. I have been in alot of bridal parties and have been to many bridal salons and I found MAcy to be one of the best.

I bought my wedding dress in Manhasset on my first visit. Everyone has their own experience and you have to do what is right for you.

Thank you so much for your response. I think we'll try other stores first and then see how we feel.
