Macys bridal question

Macys bridal question

We ordered my BM dresses at Macys in Sept and we are still waiting for them to come in (which should be fine). Did anyone else get BM dresses there? How were the alterations? Were they pricey? My sister got hers in Florida (she lives there) then had it altered here in Williston park for 65$. The tailor was really great. SOOOOO I am trying to decide if the BMs should just go there.. Sorry this is so long. Thank you.

It depends on the dress and what the girls need to get done. We ordered my sister a mermaid skirt that didn't look like a mermaid so it had to be reshaped. They tried to charge us over $100 to alter it. But my mom fought with them. Other than that, my girls all were around $50-65. You can always have them give you an estimate and let the girls decide if it's too much.

Well to begin, I think it matters which Macy's your using. I've heard much better things about Manhasset then Smithhaven... I used smithhaven, and my experience wasn't horrible, but If I did it all over again, I wouldn't use them. Some times the sales help are great and willing to do everything for you, then some of them are rude.

Alterations, were a COMPLETE RIP OFF!!!! and besides, they do a crap job. I sew and know what a decent seam was... yeah they don't know what that is... and they charged sooooo much!

One of my BM's dresses fit like a glove, all she needed was a hem, and a little nip in the bust (which I swear she really didn't need but they insisted) it cost $96!!! and we fought with them the lowest they would go was $84.

Also another one of my BM's was in another girls bridal party several months before my wedding and she refused to have alterations done there again because they never took it in enough and made her come back 3 times and charged her every time yet she swore she wasn't. And to be honest it never looked like she did.

My 3 other bridesmaid had alterations done else where since we had heard so many bad things, and these 2 had problems.

Also no matter what you tell them, they usually won't have the dresses before 3 months prior to the event. I found that out through someone who worked there. They don't have the room to store dresses for events that are more then 3 months away. HTH

Re: Macys bridal question

I paid almost $400 for my alterations for my wedding dress. I needed the length, a bustle, added a strap and a little on the top needed to be taken in.

ETA: That my dress was in by August- a good 4 months before our wedding. But still leave time- I told them my wedding was 12/8
