macys bridal salon alteration

hey,

did anybody else think the alterations at macys for their dress were outrageous? i went to macys in smithhaven and the lady was really rude and it cost $$$ for some basic alterations, they don't have an alteration cap so it was insane, at least I thought so. Anybody else have this problem?

My dress is from Macy's and when i asked about alterations I was a little shocked. They said a hem is about $150 and a bustle is $150...and they didn't even go into if I need anything taken in

I took my alterations elsewhere for that reason! I wanted a cap...i dont like that they can just charge you without a limit!

I had mine done there and I think I paid 300 including my bustle. I figure in most other shops there is a cap but that does not include the bustle so I think it was reasonable. I also paid for alterations the first fitting and had other things done and they never charged me.

My dress fit perfectly.....

I did find the alterations a bit on the high side, I just had a hem, cups put in and 1 point (traditional) bustle and it came out to like 350.

I did mine at Macys Herald Square.

I'm getting my alterations done at Macy's and I think it's totally reasonable. I had a hollow to hem for $150 and now I just need a tiny bit taken in around my chest.

Yeah mine came out to $400 I almost fainted! I think that is just crazy, but maybe I just don't know how much these things cost. I didn't get anything complicated done at all either. I still think its crazy.

A lot of places have a cap and then you still pay for the bustle.....so it really comes close to the same unless your dress needs to basically be re-bulit
