Macy's bridal salon in Manhasset RANT! long

Can I just say what a fiasco I had yesterday. I took on of my bridesmaids (my SIL) to get her dress altered. We go there...the lady had a huge accent and I could barely understand her in the first place. She wasn't that helpful at all in trying to figure out what the do with the back of the dress. We have the infamous Levkoff #966 with the train. When she finally did make a suggestion, it was horrible. She kept saying, whatever u want...and im like HELLO!!! I'm not a seamstress!!! So fine...we get everything done and go to pay...they charged us $135 for alterations!!! The dress is only $180!!! $135 for the bust, length and a one point bustle...are u kidding me??? A girl next to us was also complaining about what they charged her. In the end we decided to take the dresses and get them altered somewhere else. We waited 45min to get the dress...they were so disorganized!! 3 other girls were there waiting for their fittings and being ignored. So we get the dress...and my SIL leaves. I stayed behind to get the rest of the bridesmaids dresses bc I didn't wanna go back to that hellhole. The seamstress comes out and starts ranting about the cups being still pinned into my SIL's dress. Mind u they told us we could take the dress and leave. Needless to say my SIL was P ISSED!!! She had to drive back with the cups. Granted...it was a mistake, but instead of them apologizing and saying sorry, we didn't realize...they were like...well what do u want us to do, we need those cups, or we're charging her (me) $25...I don't know what else u want me to tell u, u have to come back!!! I wanted to shoot everyone there. They were so disorganized, rude, and incompetent. No apology...NOTHING. They had a line of ppl complaining about one thing or another. Needless to say...avoid going there...or at least DO NOT get ure alterations there!!

OH, boy this place just keeps getting worse. I had my first fitting there 2 weeks ago and it was a disaster. My sister and I were waiting in a back room for almost 25 minutes while everyone just ignored us, while we were waiting we could hear 2 of the consultants screaming at eachother!!! My sister was sooo pissed she went out to ask what was going on and if the seamstress was ready (at this point she is a 1/2 hour late). Finally they send a different seamstress back, she was nice but not exactly helpful. She pinned the bustle on my dress and it looked like crap. I asked what my other options were and she quickly pinned up a different type and proceeded to prick her finger and get blood on the train I guess she thought we didn't notice and quickly exited the room. When my sister went to the front to tell someone about the blood on the dress they acted as though it was her problem. In the end the seamstress cleaned the blood off the dress. Overall not my best experience with them.

Wow I cant believe that you ladies had such a bad expierience with them ... I have been dealing with Charmaine the manager and she has been so helpful she put my e-party dress on her hotlist and it actually came in earlier than we expected thank god and alterations were expensive I will give you that much but i had no other problems with that my dress came out great.. I really dont like dealing with anyone else there but Charmaine so maybe if you have any problems you can have her help you.

omg.... that is just terribe... people can be so rude and obnoxious!! brides spend a ton of money at the salon's you would think they would be up your butt and nice to you.
sorry you girls had to go through that..

I got a call a few weeks ago that my dress was in, but I'm not getting married until April. I kind of always had my doubts about doing alterations there b/c there is no cap, but I'm nervous if I go anywhere else. I mean I have a reliable seamstress, but what happens if something happens to the dress? They are not responsible. I'm just so torn...

I would take it to someone else that does bridal gowns that is reputable. The way the girls that we waiting for their fittings were treated was HORRIBLE. I am taken right away and treated like a queen when I go...these girls got ignored for a good 20mins before they were even acknowledged. Their seamstresses just don't seem like they are really helpful either. I'd say run for ure life!! I'm sure if u ended up gettin them done there, they'll do an ok job, but i think u should save ureself the aggravation!
