Macy's Bridal 'Sip and Scan' Registry Event

Hey anyone going? Or been to one? What is the $100 gift they claim to give you? I'm attending one on October 20th. I'm assuming it'll be fun - free food and drinks and they claim to be giving a 'gift'...

ive been to one- they had wine and cheese and a couple of giveaways. a spatula, wine bag, some other things. there's reps from the companies there to talk to you about their products, so it can be kinda informative. im glad i went, but it can be kind of overwhelming.

I used to work at Macy's part time (but here in PA). The last sip and scan we had while I worked there they gave the b&g two Cellar wine glasses (very cheap gift), a few bridal mags, and a Victorinox Swiss Army tote bag. Our store never gave anything that was worth $100 but I guess Herald Square has a bigger budget for that.

yeah, I went to one in LI and they gave us 2 champagne glasses (nothing expensive) & the bag & mags. They had no champagne, so there was no sipping lol but they had chocolate covered strawberries. It was fine, but honestly, there were so many people stopping to talk to us & try to help us or explain their product that I got almost nothing accomplished. It was actually a little annoying lol. I had to go back to register for most of my stuff on a regular day.

I guess the thought process behind it is that many brides really have no clue about the products for which they're registering. I also found it annoying when I was a bride and registering there. But, having worked in the registry department, I do know that there are brides who really need their hand held through the department and the registry process. Of course, there's nothing wrong with this but not everyone is the same way and us more independent brides need to be left alone I did have a bride or two who literally wouldn't scan an item unless they asked me if it was a good idea first. It's totally understandable because some people never spent time in a kitchen or never learned about thread counts but, every item?!?

I totally understand that. Don't get me wrong, everyone was really sweet and some of it was helpful. I think I just went on a night that was really dead lol I think there were like 2 other couples there, so the employees kept running into us. You do get some other gifts sometimes from the outside reps that are there, just for registering. I got All Clad measuring cups lol

Re: Macy's Bridal 'Sip and Scan' Registry Event

I went to the one at Herald Square last month. They gave away 2 wine glasses in a bag (I dont think I got bridal mags though) They did have some food but I dont even remember what they served cuz I had just eaten before I got there. Besides the Macys salespeople, there were people who work for different companies (Lenox, Vera Wang, Waterford, etc.) who walk around by those products and if you need any help they're there for you. It was really nice because no one was hovering over you or anything but as you looked at items if you had a question you could ask them right there and then. This was the first time FH and I registered so I thought it was pretty helpful. However, I will say after a LONG day at work it was a bit overwhelming and tiresome. It's a good experience but don't drive yourself crazy b/c you can alway add stuff online or go there another time. Good luck and have fun!!

ITA, FH and I were so exhausted afterward.

So ladies, I went yesterday - it was fun but a bit overwhelming. There's snacks to munch on and some drinks. There's an associate that introduces you to the event and hands you a clip board with registry ideas and the scanner. Then you go scanning away.

At the end of the event - they give you a list of all the items you've scanned and they give you a Victorianox Shoulder Bag and 2 glasses.

Overall it was fun...there's another one next week.

urgh! FH, FMIL and I stopped in Macy's on sunday and wondered into the 'fine china' area and were offered help, we declined... this woman followed us around and pointed out and explained everything we LOOKED at (didn't touch, just glanced at) she asked us if we wanted to register, we said, no not yet.
but she pushed and pushed and pushed... SO.. we register FOR CHINA only.... I go to log in to 'edit' what SHE added.... i can't log in!?!? ***?
