Macys Registry - accommodating???

Macys Registry - accommodating???

I'm registered at 3 stores, 2 being Macys and Fortunoffs. I registered at Macys for non-LI guests, so I added a few settings of my china onto the Macys registry that I also have on my Fortunoff registry. This morning I was notified today that things were purchased off my Macys registery :) 4 China settings, however, Fortunoffs offers a free soup bowl with every place setting purchased. I emailed Macys asking if they would accept the Fortunoffs promotion. My friend told me the same thing happened to her and that Macys aren't very accommodating, can any one let me know your experiences and/or know of someone's experiences with Macys, and if they were in this type of situation if they pull through for them?

I would have LOVED to have registered at Macy's BUT all my friends that registered there had nothing but drama with them! and Bloomies had nothing but overpriced crizap (no offense)

That's where I wanted to go besides Fortunoff, (his whole family lives in Brooklyn), but FI wanted Macys for their convenience. I'm hoping someone answering my request over at Macys is in a good mood. I'll print the e-mail and go get my bowls tonight before they change their minds :)

I used only Macy's for my wedding, and overall I was pleased. I have never heard of them honoring a competitor's offer then way you describe.

I haven't had problems with my Macy's registry so far. We started registering for our eparty.

What Fortunoffs does is an incentive to get people to buy you your china in order to get a 'free' bowl. Its a mere marketing tactic. Somewhere the value of the bowl is built into the price. If you look how often your china goes on sale, its ridiculous how they can get away with it.
Edited store name

Actually the price per setting is the same at both Macys and Fortunoffs, however, the Free bowl at Fortunoffs is $3.00 LESS than at Macy's where I would have to pay it.

I hear you I'm registered at bloomingdales and at fortunoffs. My e-party is april 26th, and fortunoff's has the promotion of the free soup bowl until april 27th (normally 65$ - place setting is 109$) well everyone is buying my place settings from Bloomingdales!

Etd to say the price of my everyday and good china, and my crystal are the same at both places. So basically it is 109 for a place setting both places but fortunoff gives me a free bowl

Is it a promotion or sale or you can always get this deal? If it’s a sale, its even worse to try to get something out of it, If it is a permanent incentive, then possibly you can get it.
Both of these stores always have sales going on. Like last week I looked at my registry and the microwave was $140. Today its $100!

If you like why don’t you tell your guests to purchase it from Fortunoff’s then call Macys and tell them to take a china off of your registry so you won’t have too many.

It's wrong. I just went to my Macys registry and removed the rest of my China until I get an answer from Macys. I believe Macys and Bloomingdales are both same owners - I'll see, let you know.

The same thing happened to me. If it's Lenox, there is a Lenox outlet in Riverhead and everything is much cheaper than Fortunoff's or Macy's.

Macys and Bloomies are both owned by Federated Inc. but they still have different policies :)

The other option is for you to return the Macy's ones if you receive them and then go buy from Fortunoff.

It's a Promotion that runs all year. The same promotion ended in October and then continued it again until August 31st of this year. It's all the time at Fortunoffs. I'm only going to tell my bridal party and mother the situation, so if anyone asks, they can let them know about that. The rest of the China I'm removing until I get an answer.

the rest of my 2 cents on bloomingdales and macys

one major reason we didnt register there is that they dont keep stock on allot of their display items, and guests can have the store order the items on the registry, but have to pay for the shipping to the store. i have never heard of anything so ridiculous. didnt want friends and family to have to spend more moeny b/c now they have to pay for shipping also.

We registered with Macy's and didn't have a problem.

jtodaro - I agree fortunoff had everything we needed but what would you recommend for family members who are coming or want to send us a nice gift but who live in Texas, Washington, or California? What do they do- they will already be paying for shipping a gift anyway

Re: Macys Registry - accommodating???

true out of towners are paying for shipping no matter what. we chose fortunoff and Bed bath & Beyond. this way anyone could shop at either one whether they were out of town or in town. didnt want to have one regisrty especially for out of town guests. just wanted one that everybody would find easily.
