I just wanted to let you guys know.. I got married in April and my shower was obviously before that. We just moved into our new place and realized that there were tons of gifts that we recieved and even some stuff we bought ourselves and didn't need (all off of our registry). Anyway.. the last 2 times I went to do returns, they tried to give me MUCH less than I paid or the other person paid. I realized this of course because I knew how much I had paid for some big ticket items. Just so you know.. if it has been more than 6 months.. you have to go to the bridal attendant and have them print a price paid list.. so that you get the correct amount. I tried to return a kitchenaid mixer that we paid $289 for (it was an awesome deal but we got one as a gift and decided to return the one we bought) and they insisted over and over after scanning the registry and my credit card that we paid $149. FINALLY the bridal attendant pulled up the list and verified that we paid $289.

when I registered at Macys, I was told that if I wanted to return something to ask for the list to be printed.

Yea.. I did ask over and over.. and unfortunately some employees aren't really versed in the whole registry thing. I actually got into a huge argument with the lady after standing there for an hour while she tried giving me $20 for sheets that my aunt paid $100 for.. finally the manager came over and did it.. but I waited an hour for them to finally figure it all out!

Thanks, just makes me wonder if they are doing this a lot. If no one knows what was paid for the item.. you might just accept the price they give you and walk away.. you know?

I'm so sorry - that really stinks. I had the same problem with Macy's, which was part of the reason I closed my registry with them before my wedding.

It really ***** for people when we have legitimate returns because there is proof of the price paid. Unfortunately so many people have taken advantage of past systems which is why companies like Macys had to make changes to it and then just tell the cashiers give them the current price if they don't have a receipt. Just be glad you got the correct price even if it was a hassel!

Macy's is HORRIBLE with returns as well as customer service I had a much better experience with Fortunoff except for the fact that half their items were discontinued

thats retarded..im glad i had no problem w them while i was registered there..otherwise i would had had a seizure w so much stress from the wedding lol

Yea their customer service DOES suck.. and even the managers don't try to make the situation better.. they speak to me like I'm a dummy. I was actually a retail store manager for 2 different stores before I became a teacher.. I know how stores work.. and they still try to talk to me like I'm 5 years old!

yes yes! I went to return an item that was nearly 200 bucks and had to twist their arm to verify paid list bc they were trying to credit me about 79
though, this was at macy's in staten island~they're so so dumb and their stock is awful..

i've had no problems returning to macys, and i have gone on 3 occassions. if you dont have a gift receipt you have no choice but to go to the bridal attendants and they have been really helpful when I went there. I go to the Roosevelt Field store.
