MACYS today, a (crazy but a little long) true story....

I am trying on a wedding dress in Macy's Herald Square, when all of a sudden a man makes announcement that they are evacuating the building!!!!!!!!! OMG! I am standing on a pedestal, with veil and the works and proceed to RUN not WALK to the dressing room. My mom is running to get our bags while I try to get out of the dress (which thank God was not a frontrunner,was just curious)...well...

The Macys staffer DID NOT return to help me take off the gown, veil, etc..I got myself out of the dress with hooks, zipper, and all amidst sheer chaos - little flowergirls were running out, other BTB and families were scrambling to get out of dresses, and the staff was GONE. It was UNBELIEVABLE. I even left the shoes I used to try on the gowns in the room in my rush to get out of the bldg. Tx goodness I had flats on!

While I am glad to learn that it was a small electrical fire, it was a very disorganized and scary to say the least!!!!!! Macys told people to use the escalators but the PA said to leave via the stairways. It was a total circus and I felt bad for the women & children & elderly who were doing their best to get out safely. People were pushing and some were yelling. We got off the escalators and BOOKED it down the 7 flights of stairs to the street.

After this strange day of bridal shopping, everything else has to be cake!!!!!!!!!! At least I hit two other stores, but I am so glad to be home. (a tired, but thankful to be safe)

haha..I was thinking the same...FREEEEEEE dress! hahah...sorry to hear it was such chaos...but now the rest of your shopping will seem normal!

I was at Macy's today too... I proceeded across the street to shop at H&M

For a second the lightbulb flashed, like hmm....FREE DRESS!!!

I could imagine that people stole stuff from Macys today, esp with the chaos around...it was such an odd thing to have been gown shopping and the next running down stairs for your life!!!!!

Just so glad to be home and alright...we went to Lord and Taylor to regroup and then headed home...

There was a little girl who got separated from her mother, I hope they were reunited!!!

You should of gone with the dress. How could no one have helped you??????

Thank God you are safe.. I totally would have left with the dress..
