made your own veil?

made your own veil?

I'm thinking about making my own veil. They are soooo expensive. I got tulle for five dollars and started playing with scrap pieces, sewing on beads and crystals. Pics in my album of the pattern i like the best so far. Has anyone attacked making their own beaded veil? thanks.

just buy one from ebay for $10 ... it'll be the same thing as the pricey ones.

I want a single layer veil, fingertip length. That's what looked best with my dress with the ones I tried on. I basically took the large piece of tulle and first cut the width so it wouldn't be too gathered but still drape over the front of my sholders for the ceremony. Then I cut the length to where I wanted the lowest part to be. Then i marked where I wanted the veil to start curving from the front, folded the material in half and then cut the two corners round to meet at the lowest point. Am I making sense? Lol. I want a more delicate look which is why I'm going with beads, pearls, and crystals. I figure if I make it and don't love it with my dress I can sell it for a lot cheaper that most ppl would have to pay and try again :)

yeah my problem is i want a 2 tier cathedral! i got one from ebay for $10 but its too short (i got 108 inches and need 120 inches). ive been searching all over and the cheapest i can find one for is $60 so i figured for $10 may as well try to make it myself! i would like to do beading too but my concern is that since it is cathedral length it will be more obvious if isnt done perfectly
good luck and take pics of the complete project
i cant wait to see it!
my sat night will consist of me making my card box and veil!!! im so excited (but really i am...im not being sarcastic and FH thinks im crazy!)

Lol. My mom thinks I'm crazy for doing it myself too, but I've always been artistic and creative. Beading is such a fine edge that I would think you would see any non-perfect edges a lot more with ribbon edges. That pic on my album is zoomed in, its really only about 5 inches of beadwork lol. If you do attach ribbon id say to make sure your tulle is cut perfectly first. Have fun!!!! I will :) us crazies can stick together lol.
