Maggie Sottero question -- UPDATE!

i've been reading the boards for a couple of months but i'm shy so i haven't really posted but you guys are a wealth of information and inspiration ...

this past saturday i went for the first time to try on dresses ... i concentrated on maggie sottero styles and i think i may have found the one already: adelaide ... i was looking to try on davida but the store did not have it (it's a fall 2009 style) ... i've called a couple of places looking for it and one just told me it's brand new and they won't receive it til jan -- are the styles really that delayed? ... there was an email last week about the new 2010 maggie styles so i didn't think 2009 still weren't out ...

i'm just confused over whether i should wait until the davida is available to try or if i should go ahead and order the adelaide ... after the store told me that it takes 5-6 months for a maggie order, i'm a little worried about waiting ... my wedding is either the last weekend in sept or the first weekend in oct (we're still trying to pin down a date) ...

thank you to Jennifer (LuvMyHunk) for providing the Maggie corporate number! ... i tracked the dress down at Village Bridal in Babylon and went to see it last night -- i considered not going to see it because i'm in Brooklyn and it was a trek to get there but they were sooooo nice at VB and i'm happy i went to see it ... now i have to decide! i'm so torn! ugh!!! ... my mother and my FSIL were no help -- 'you look beautiful in both!' ...

try contacting the corp maggie offfices... maybe they can give you more direction! i found the dress i loved on line and in a magazine and almost gave up looking for it somewhere to try on.... and i found it and it was the one, so keep trying or you maybe always wonder. also, post it on the vendor heling bride board... i got some help from the bridal salons that way. GOOD LUCK!

If you have your heart set on trying on the Davida I would wait. If you order it in January you should still have plenty of time for fittings. What did the bridal salon tell you if you wait until January? Did they say you would have enough time?

If not, does the bridal salon have anything similar to it for you to try on? When I went I had pictures of gowns that I wanted to try and if the store didn't have a sample the girl I was working with found dresses that were similar so I could see if I liked the style.

Unfortunately, each bridal salon can't order a sample of each new dress that comes out. My dress (not a Maggie by the way) came out in 2008 and a lot of places didn't have it. The store closest to me is just ordering it now because so many brides have called asking about it. Maybe they ordered the Davida late because they got a lot of inqueries about it! Anyway, call RK Bridal. They are pretty good about having the newest most popular Maggie styles. Every dress I've called looking for, they have had! Good luck!

i think you should call every authorized maggie retailer... Try RK, Lillettes, Manhattan Bridal, H&S Bridal, Bridal Reflections, Village bridal... these are all big Maggie retailers

don't lose hope... i found mine a place the was supposedly a salon... it was a basement of a house and they only had like 7 dresses and mine was one of them!

you have more than enough time to order a maggie.. they don't really take that long


either helen's or village bridal has both the adelaide and davida, i can't remember which one but i'm pretty sure i tried them both on at one of those places

I literally had to call every store on LI to find the Milana, which I ultimately found at the Village Bridal in Babylon, and then again at Helen's in Commack, where I purchased the dress.

I'd print a list and start calling around, someone will have it.

i think it depends on where you go ... one of the places i called today told me about $700 for adelaide and said davida was 'more expensive' - $800+ ...


thank you to everyone else for the suggestions and reassurance ... i'll call RK tmw and see if they have it ... i think i'll be too nervous if i wait til mid to late jan to order ...

I ordered my Maggie dress at Bridal Reflections in Massapequa....did you try them?

When I was there in April they had new (09) Maggie dresses in, maybe they have the dress you are looking for?

Also, my dress only took 4 months to come in, even though they said it was going to take much longer

My dress is Maggie Sottero's 'Adelaide'. i ordered it from Helen's Bridal in Commack in June and its supposed to be shipped out 11/15. It is a great dress but try both on and see which one you like better. You definitely have time. Fm me if u want more info....

Hey! I ordered my Maggie from Helen's too and they told me it will be shipped out 11/12. When do you think we'll get it to try on!?!?

I got mine at RK Bridal. Ordered it in August, coming in December :)
Can't wait. The dress is amazing...and it's less than $1k
