I was MOH at my sister's wedding. I already asked her t be my MOH. I also have a best friend whom I'm very very close with (like a sister to me also). I already asked her to be a BM. I don't know if I'm going to have other BM's. I may ask some of my other friends from HS, but if I do, I feel like my best friend shouldn't be grouped among them because she's so much more important to me than any of my other friends. I thought the best thing would be to give her a posiiton of honor also, and have a miad of honor and a matron of honor. At the same time, I don't want to hurt my sister's feelings by making her role seem less important or making it seem like I didn't want to pick her. What do you think?

If it were my sister, I would talk to her about it first and see how she felt about it. Mine would probably be behind it and just want to make me happy.

Re: Maid of Honor AND Matron of Honor??
I am only having 2 attendants, so I am having my unmarried sister be the maid of honor and my married best friend be the matron of honor. I am sure your sister wouldn't be offended, and might be glad to have help in the role!

Re: Maid of Honor AND Matron of Honor??
Well originally my sister was my Matron and my best friend was my maid. I was in the same exact postion you are in. Well long story short it caused a problem between me and my sister b/c she didnt like the idea of having a maid and matron. I say have both but talk to your sister about it first and see how she feels. - Hopefully your sister wont get 'offeneded' like mine did

I wanted to do this with my sis and best friend...but my sis was slightly offended.... so my PG best friend was the first BM next to my sister, like a head BM

Re: Maid of Honor AND Matron of Honor??
I am having my oldest sister be my matron of honor and my best friend (from middle school through now) as a bridesmaid. I was maid of honor for both of them, but my best friend totally understood that a sister takes precedence. (Also, my sister is most able to plan a shower for me, since my best friend will be in the middle of a residency program at the time.)
Perhaps you should have both, and suggest they divide up the duties: one is in charge of your shower, the other is in charge of your bachelorette party. Then you should probably also have them walk down the aisle together, to emphasize their equality. I'm all for ditching traditions if you really can't bear to choose one over the other...just as long as you think the two women can work together well and have fun!

Re: Maid of Honor AND Matron of Honor??
I'd say have both...I don't think your sister would be offended...it's not like you are choosing your friend to be MOH over your sister. I have heard of a lot of people doing things like that. I would tell her of your plans so that their won't be any surprises and you could answer her questions.

Have both! I am simply having a Maid and a Matron of Honor- no BM's. I am an only child, my two cousins were the closest thing I ever had to sisters.

Have both. I have two Matrons of honor (they are both my sisters). I think both would be honored to be your honor attendant that day
