Ok I am going to have a maid and matron of honor. FSIL will be Matron and my close friend will be maid (in case anyone read my other thread on picking Maid of honor). I was talking to my mom and she said that I should make sure that each one knows that their will be a maid and a matron because usually the maid of honor signs the papers and so forth... I never even thought of this.. Which one will be the witness. How do u choose. Is it just known that the maid does this things? Who stand s next to u at the alter??? O the DILEMAS of all of this!

Re: Maid of honor and Matron of honor question!
I put a post up about this a while back b/c I am also having both. At the altar I will have both next to me. My sister is my Maid and my best friend is my Matron. For signing of the marriage cert I was thinking of having my sister.

I was my friend's Maid of honor and our other friend was her Matron. We both sat to the left of her on the altar although I was directly next to her and I signed the marriage certificate.

I thought the only difference between maid an matron was their marrital status. I thought single females were maids and marrieds females were matrons.

I also have both. To make it fair to both of them I asked my Maid of Honor to be my witness, and My Matron of honor to do the speech at the reception since she is more outspoken and not as shy as the made of honor. And they will be standing will the bridemaids during the ceremony and not next to me. Hope this helps.

Re: Maid of honor and Matron of honor question!
I had two maids of honor (my sisters). Our church only allowed one to stand at the alter. My older sister stood at the alter and signed as a witness. My younger sister did a reading during the ceremony. They both left with the best man.
And they both gave a joint speech at the reception.
