My MOH has been married for nearly a year but she wants to be called the 'maid' of honor instead of 'matron' cuz she feels like it sounds too OLD! She's 29. I'm not having programs but how should I have her announced at the RH? Should I just ignore her and let her be announced as Matron of Honor?!? What's she gonna do?!? hehe

Re: Maid/Matron of Honor
I would be proud to be called a Matron of honor. Mine is also a matron of honor and she doesn't feel old being called that (she's 26). If its going to make life easier I would just have them announce her as a maid but on the other hand make sure there aren't single guys there out on the prowl that hear her announced as 'maid'.

Re: Maid/Matron of Honor
My little sister (age 27) will be married when our wedding comes around. I joked that she would be my matron of honor and my older unmarried sister will be my maid of honor.
That didn't go well.
I think that while technically 'Matron of Honor' applies to someone who is already married, most people only apply the term to someone who is older - like and aunt or mother.
If it were me, I would leave it up to the person who has the title. No sense having her get embarrassed or upset over one little word.

Did you even ask her this?
Don't jump to assumptions without asking people, because many do this when wedding planning and cast these assumptions on people and they end up wrong. I know several people that were in this predicament and they all guessed wrong about the issue.

Yes, I did ask her - she's like 'matron of honor' is for old married ladies! But I just thought she was being silly. Thanks ladies for your advice. I guess I'll just stick to having her announced as a maid of honor so as to not have to hear about it later!

Trust me, not a soul will notice either way, so just do whatever she likes best. It really doesn't matter. Better to have her happy.
