How far in advance do you need to do this? Is doing it through the Post Office enough or do I still need to contact everyone? What did everyone do?

Re: Mail Forwarding
I think they recommend filling out the change of addy forms from the post office about 6 weeks before moving in.

Re: Mail Forwarding
You fill out one of the forms at the post office... but also have to contact all of your bill carriers (car insurance, cell phone, credit cards, etc) and let them know about the change of the addresss... all the post office form does is foward your mail, they dont notify the sender of your change of address...

I would also contact all the companies that you need to and let them know when you are ready, because 10 months later I still get the mail for the people who used to live here! Up until last month I was still getting his social security check every month Luckily for them I am nice and their daughter only lives 1 block away. But our mailmen seem to have a problem with remembering to forward this though they did fill out the forms!

You can do it over the internet and you get almost instant verification. If you do it by mail it takes over a month.
