Re: Mail Merge

it is a program through MS word to do mass mailings. I made an excel spreadsheet of my guest list then mail merge pulls all the info so you dont have to type each address again.

I just did mine the long way, I measured the size of the envelope and then entered each address in that file in word. It wasn't too bad since I don't have that many invites to do (about 75).

Have you tried a custom envelope setting?

well i entered in the setting but i dont think it is taking. becuase it still has the address block in the left corner. and you have to enter and tab to position it.

I had the same problem with mail merge when trying to do it with our STDs and ended up doing it the long way, too..had about 100 but with FH running to and from the printer, it didn't take too long. We also did the excel spreadsheet and found copying and pasting went faster if we made a column with everyone's name EXACTLY how we wanted it on the envelope before the column for address started...hope this helps, but if you get new info., let me know for the invites..another project...PS I hope you are using scrap paper the size of your envelopes and not wasting envelopes..that was something I figured out the hard way!

Re: Mail Merge

I use the merge wizard a lot for work.

In word, if you go under tools, and click letters and mailing, you can get to the merge wizard. It's pretty self explainatory from there, but I can walk you through it if you need help just FM me. It might take some testing because you need to choose the type of paper you have, so you may need to measure your envelope and play around a bit.

Good Luck!

Re: Mail Merge

You kind of jsut have to keep fooling around with it. Keep changing the position and printin it out (hopefully on an extra envelope). It's definitely a pain in the butt.

Also, when you are repositioning the merge fields, make sure you are doing it on the 'Arrange your document' step (where you see the merge fields First Name, Last Name, Address, etc. not on the screen where you see the actual names addresses inserted. If you do it where you can see the actual names and addresses, it will only reposition that particular record, not all the records. HTH! Let me know if you need anymore help or don't understand what the heck i'm talking about - I'm a mail merge pro due to my job.
