I know typical is 3-5 a head--the Carltun suggests 1500, which nets out to 9.38 PP...
Now they say its suggested but I also don't want to jerk them! What do I do???????

I would say wait and see how the service is...is your maitre D is phenomenal you may want to tip her more but I think $5 per person would not look cheap at all!

Re: Maitre D Tip
my RH already has a mandatory pp Maitre D fee included in what we're paying...
that would be considered a mandatory tip, wouldnt it?

Re: Maitre D Tip
I know! this makes me nuts. I feel like $600 is a lot of money but thats what I budgeted for. That would be about $3pp for us. Soooo frustrating. I would have almost rather had them build it into the cost of the reception and not have to deal with it. The paperwork from our DOC suggests $3 to $5 per person (or what is suggested by your venue). $5 seems plenty to me.

Re: Maitre D Tip
Our RH suggested $4-5 per guest. Unless you are having an extra large guest list I think $1500 is a bit much. But I know the Carltun is on ther high end of the RH scale. It still sounds a bit high.
