Hi Ladies! We are getting married next Sat. Our hall gave us an envelope to put tips in for the staff including the maître de - pretty much one big tip and everyone will split it. Should we tip the matire de on top of that? How do I know he/she will receive the correct amount that should be given??

When we were looking at JT the BM we spoke with told us the $3-5pp they recommended was for the maître d to split also. I'm not sure if that's typical... None of the other venues we've seen have mentioned it.

Our venue told us $3-5 for the maitre d and then $3-5 for the staff that the maitre d will divide and hand out to them. Seems to be pretty standard.

They told us to mark the envelopes and put the maitre d tip in one and the staff one in another so nothing gets mixed up.
