Re: Majestic Elegance Punta Cana
FH and I stayed there a few months after they opened. We got a great deal! We stayed in the adult section. We read about a lot of complaints before we went- but it's things that we don't complain about. Eg crooked molding in rooms, tbs weren't hung on wall, they were on table, slow service.... We had a blast! We went in feb too and since it was new it was really empty. We pretty much had the adult section to our selves. We found the food and service to be just as fine as any other resort we stayed at. We always tipped our bartenders and they took good care of us whenever we walked over to the bars. The resort was beautiful and there's a half sunken ship right off the coast that you can check out. We had the butler or concierge (whatever it is) service. We had to call twice for a few things, but no big deal to us. I suggest going!
FH wouldn't let me do any sightseeing bc it was DR so I missed out on excursions.

Do you think its a good option for honeymoon? I have seen some of the reviews you mentioned... but FH and I have never been away together- so we will be happy with the basics. :) Are there other places that may be comparable to price?

You may want to look into Occidental in DR. I was looking into Dominican Republic and that was one area that was considered. There also was Paradisus Punta Cana, which has three different areas, couples only I believe is called Reserve, with private pools and restaurants and the general area is just the Paradisus and then there is anothe area that has the butler service, which I don't recall the name. They are sort of pricey, depending on what your budget would be and also what time of the year, but def well worth it.
I have been to Puerto Rico and stayed at Wyndham Rio Mar and it is beautiful and reasonable priced, sometime you can catch an all-inclusive deal with this place.Normally I go on Trip advisor and just type in 4 or 5 star all inclusive hotels and everyone has comments. Good Luck on planning.

Re: Majestic Elegance Punta Cana
Please look into the RIU Palace. I went last yea for vacation there and it is sooooo much fun!! The RIU properties have 6 hotels on it and you are able to go from hotel to hotel at night. so there is never a chance of you being bored. If you are staying at the palace you get a gold bracelet which allows you to go on any other RIU hotel and use there facilitites for free. They have a strip of about 30 shops and they also have a club called Pacha, so if you want good dancing you can deff go there. (all located on the RIU property) email me at [email protected] and I will send you pics, I tried added them to this but it says the file is to large.

Look into Paradisus or the Hard Rock in Punta Cana. They are more in the pricey side but so worth it for a honeymoon.

FH and I have stayed there. The resort itself was brand new, 3 months old when we went and they were still working on it when we got there. I'm sure by now they have ironed out the kinks. The resort is beautiful but personally I hated the food.
