No, I haven't but I soooooo prefer a band over a DJ at a wedding!!!!! You made a good choice

That's very sad and a good way to burn bridges--regardless of what the contract says, he should return the money because he's a good businessman.

You can always remind him that he's losing a lot more than $500 dollars for this--he's losing business your family and friends would have been giving him in future years.

Anyone wanna call the DJ i'm cancelling (I booked a band instead) and pretend theyre me and try to get my deposit back... I don't know why this is giving me major anxiety

**UPDATE** OMG I'm shocked. He said NO!! I can't believe it! He's not giving us back our deposit. We've known him forever. He's DJ'd all our family parties since we were kids and just DJ'd two of our weddings in the past 10 months. He didn't EVEN want a deposit from us in the first place and I stupidly insisted he take it. And now he won't give it back!! This is ridiculous!! I know the contract says he doesn't have to, but doesn't consideration come into play at all!!!

He's a DJ on the radio, is in the clubs every weekend, and is always booked solid for parties. I'm sure he won't starve without my $500. OMG we're so not friends anymore!!!

That really stinks...friends huh? Not anymore! He could've at least given you back half!

i would throw a FIT!!! let him know that you were under the impressoin that since he didnt even WANT your deposit in the first place that it really shouldnt be a prob to work with you and come to some sort of comprimise!! if that doesnt work you let hime know that you have the future brides of LIW with you and he better not F--k with you!! lolololol
