Major checks/a few questions for women who are homeowners
I haven't been posting lately, but wanted to share some exciting news with my LI weddings girls! FH and I have chosen our cake, finally booked our inter-island flights for our honeymoon, and last but not least...we bought a house! After a lot of searching and going back/forth, FH and I can finally say we're home owners! We closed last wk and I still can't believe it! We'll start moving in soon, and was wondering who you ladies use for your alarm monitoring and fencing? Also, FH and I recently got a new puppy, and our house isn't gated/fenced in at the front of the property, so if you girls can recommend some reputable companies, preferably in Nassau County, I would GREATLY appreciate it!

Congratulations!! That's so exciting!
We used slomins for our alarm. We have oil so we got a deal for signing an oil contract and alarm. So far they are great I really like it. As for fence we used V and O Montelvano fence. They were the most reasonable I could find (money is really tight with the wedding lol). Rose Fence is also great, and all of there fences are warranted.

Congratulations!! That's so exciting!!
We don't have an alarm company (I know, I know) but FH has cameras installed everywhere. We used Blizzard Fence in Copiague. When we bought our house, we had to pay for a new survey. The new survey revealed that the neighbor to our south has 2 feet of our property because a fence was previously installed incorrectly. The guy at Blizzard was a friend of our Realtor and came and gave an estimate the day before closing so we could get the cost of moving the fence taken off the purchase price. So, ultimately we went with them to move the fence. And it made zero difference in the size of my back yard, LOL! But they were very nice to deal with.

Thank you so much for your help ladies! I'll def be calling these companies for quotes, and you brought up a good point @vilardi82...FH and I haven't even contacted any oil companies besides one. So gotta get on that especially since I've been told its best to lock in a contract now. But who knows, all this house stuff is so overwhelming! Was never as money conscious as I am now...I feel like I even have to save just to buy a pair of sneakers! lol
@ypharmacy- Meenan was recommended to us by the previous owners/some neighbors, but for oil only. How do you like their service, and are you by any chance in the Wantagh area? It seems most of the people on my block use them, but I feel like I need at least a few more to compare to.

Yes def get quotes for oil now and see if you can get yourself in the monthly budget for the year....we didn't sign out contract till October so we couldn't so the monthly budget and those $650 deliveries in January killed us on top of wedding bills.

Congrats! We use All Island Security. They are very friendly, convenient and budget friendly. The alarm has gone off accidentally a few times and they always call to check to make sure everything is okay.
Oil is definitely going to be a big PITA. We have a smaller house, but we still had $300-400 oil bills every two months. We just had probably our last oil bill for the season last month and it was over $400 (no fill up since Feb, I think). We didn't move in until September of last year, so we had to get a contract right away. We use Frank Brothers (FH's cousin's husband works for them), but I think we may go with someone else next year.
Oh btw, not sure if your new home has a wood burning stove (ours does), some oil places won't let you sign a contract, since they think you won't be using much oil because of the stove.
