so my church does not want to marry us there or have anyone else marry us there
here's the situation.
I was baptized catholic and received all my sacraments. FH was baptized catholic but never received any sacraments. He has never practiced the catholic religion in any way shape or form. When we met with the priest at my church he informed us that in order for us to be married FH would have to take 8 months of RCIA classes in order to be confirmed to be married in the church. so i contacted a deacon. well my priest will not allow the deacon to marry us unless my FH takes these RCIA classes. soo now i'm stuck. FH has said he will take them but i do not want to make him take something that he has to sit in for a few hours once a week for 8 months, thats not fair to him as he woudl only be doing this for me. FH has no desire to receive the sacraments. we are having this major problem due to his baptism.
I dont know what to do. this is very upsetting to me as everyone in my family has gotten married in this church.Getting married in the church is very important to me. I've been crying all day about this and don't know the next step to take. any advise you ladies could provide would be helpful.

Re: MAJOR CHURCH DILEMA--11er needs help!
My BIL had to take those classes before him and my sister got married. He really enjoyed them actually and was happy he did it. Maybe it won't be so bad

Can you try another church? I believe that the Catholic church will marry the two of you as long as you agree to raise your children catholic. It's possible that this is just the policy of the one church you contacted. I would try calling around.

Try another church! Some churches are more lax than others. Where are you located?

I agree with trying another church! My FH recieved all his sacraments except for confirmation and my church had him take class once a week for about an hour so we can get married in the church. However, I've heard of people getting married in some churches as long as one person is catholic.
Good luck!

Unfortunately, the church is very strict about things like that. If getting married in a church is that important to you, then your FH should take the classes. It may not be fun while he is doing it, but it will be worth it in the end--especially if you want to raise your children Catholic. My FH just went through the annulment process. It was very difficult at times but he knew how important it was to me to get married in a church. It took over a year to complete but it was totally worth it. Now that it's over, we can book the church. My FH is actually very happy that I pushed him to go through this. You should go with your heart bc you don't want to regret anything in the future. Good luck with everything!

I honestly don't think any Catholic church will marry you. You need to receive all your sacraments in order to get married in a Catholic church.

Your wedding is in 2011, I think if it is really important for you to get married in the church then your FH should take the classes and all sacraments.
