Let me start by saying that our jeweler is fh's dads friend. So, one ofvmy stones fell out earlier this year, we brought it back and the jeweler fixed it. I've noticed since then that some of the diamonds don't sit right and keep getting loose. Randomly went to my friends jeweler today in diamond district cause she needed something. The jeweler looked at my ring and showed me all these things that were wrong and basically said I need am entirely new setting. He wasn't even trying to make me get it through him...he said to go back to the original guy and talk to him
Now im worried about my band and fh is so embarrassed to go back to him since he's a family friend and apparently gave him a sick deal on my e ring.
Thoughts?

Go back and voice your concerns...that stones keep getting loose, etc and see what he says

maybe even go to another jeweler and get a second opinion on what needs to be done, so in case the guy gets upset you have extra evidence?

i would def go back and speak to him...especially if hes a friend of your ffil he should have made sure it was perfect and not a setting where the stones were going to fall out...fh shouldnt be embarassed in fact the jeweler should since he is close to the family and was obviously careless and didnt put much thought into this...thats IMO ...gl

I'd go back and speak with him. The fact theat your ring isn't set properly is a bug issue and you could lose the diamonds at any time.

if your ring isn't insured, i would worry. and the first chance i got, i would go back to the jeweler and express your concerns

I would totally go back and express my concerns...even though he got a 'sick' deal, the ring still cost money. I had a similiar situation and went back to my jeweler and he replaced the entire band - for free.
