major help!!!

my fiance and i booked patken photos and i asked for steve but they said how about vinny,steve was already booked.so we went to meet with vinny and we were concerned,he seems younger than us. were paying alot of money and i hope its gonna be doug material. im getting really nervous. has anybody used vinny before.i need lots of info on his work.please any info would be great.thanks

Don`t panic just yet. You don`t say how old you think he might be, but even if he`s college age or just out of college, he could be talented. Great photographers have an instinct that can`t be learned, as with any skill. Try to stay positive. Ask to see proofs or an album from a wedding he did. And maybe he`s just younger than he looks! :) I`m curious ... did they change you from Steve after you signed on the contracts? Or was Vinny made as an option before signing on the contracts? It wouldn`t be right of them to have you change from Steve if you had originally booked Patken with the thought of getting Steve. Before you met with Vinny were you given the option to change if you didn`t click with him in your meeting?

yes i asked to see his work and he showed me one album of his which i wasnt to thrilled with . it didnt wow me like dougs.i asked for steve first but they said well how about vinny. so i agreed.and i can change if i didnt like his work.i just hope i can find somebody there i like if vinny doesnt work out.he was very nice and all but i want what im paying for ya know.i just hope somebody used him before any info would be great.

I booked Vinny at Patken, and was impressed with his work. I saw first hand Dougs work and Vinnies mimicks his style very closely. According to what I was told, Doug taught Vinnie everything. I don`t think you will be disappointed with his work.

I was nervous because you can teach somebody your way but you cant teach creativity.and I know Doug is so creative. his work is beautiful .well I guess I will have to see. im sure I wont be disappointed with his work.

Kimie, I also booked Patken, however I am getting Doug and paying his Premium. He was recommended to me by mother . He did her wedding over 10 years ago when she got remarried. I Think he was only 16 at the time, it was one of his first weddings, obviously you can not judge someone by age.He is the owner of Patken and he is only 26. I think that speaks for itself. As far as I can tell almost all of the Patken employees I came into contact with are young, they seem to be people Doug grew up with. If you like Vinny, which it seems you do, Don't even sweat it. Just from looking at Patken's website, if he is working there, he is learning from Doug. You'll be fine. Good luck

I know exactly how you feel. At first, I thought he was way too young also, but I saw a few albums that he did and they seemed to be okay. After speaking to him for a while I felt a lot better. I went there with one of my friends who wound up recognizing him because he head just done a wedding that she was in a few months ago. I saw those pictures and they looked good. That day it was pouring. When it is raining that hard, it is hard to keep everyone happy. My friend told me that he was good. Good to me on a rainy day means very good on a day that it isn't raining if that makes sense at all. Just tell him exactly what you want. He is also going to do some phototjournalism which means he has to bring an extra camera. Before I agreed to use him, he said that only a few photographers at Patken can do both. He did say that DOug trained him. I am totally confident. Don't worry! Also, when you go for your engagement shots you will get to know him better. Hope this helped.

I used Vinny for my 6/1/01 wedding and my proofs came out amazing. When we booked Patken last year, I also went through the proof albums and fell in love with his style. I too was told Doug trained him. Not too traditional, and very creative. We originally tried to book Doug, but due to out budget we couldn''t afford him. But let me say that you will not be dissapointed in the least. We are still having a hard time trying to pick out our album. I was also surprised at how young he was, but don''t judge a book by it''s cover. He was so much fun to work with.
