MAJOR ISSUE WITH MINORS!!!

How are you ladies handling the situation with children at the wedding? Is there a certain age where you can say its OK? The only small children we plan to have is our FG and RB but we have SOOOOOO many tweens on both sides? Is it OK? Where do we draw the line?

If we let all the tweens come, i'll get list will get wayyy out of control, but how do you allow some and not others? I'm CONFUSED!!!

Will you ladies be pre-filling the number of guests per invite on your RSVP cards??? HELLPPPPPP ... and sorryyyy for the vent!!

We are saying no children. We also are pre-filling in the # of people we are 'saving seats' for. Ex. 2 Seats have been reserved in your honor.

We cut off at 21. When people questioned it, we just told them that we decided that we did not want to deal with anyone under the legal drinking age and the possible problems. Everyone has understood. My MOH actually asked me not to invite her kids (15, 16, 21) she did not want to have to deal with them. So that sort of set the tone and everyone else followed.
I only had one person push the issue and I explained that if I added everyone under 21, it would add another 1k onto the cost and we just don't have it, After that they understood.

We made it 18. The only exception is FH's sister and some of his OOT relatives. The youngest is only going to be a few months shy of their 18th birthday.

Noone has questioned me yet, but I know my FH mother doesn't love it. But I just can't afford all of those kids. The way I see it is that it's alot of money for chicken fingers. Half the time the young ones fall asleep!

If someone does question me I am just going to say that it's what we decided and thats it. I don't owe any explanation.

Re: MAJOR ISSUE WITH MINORS!!!

I have my 2 nephews who will be turning 1, MOH's kids are allowed ( 3 and 4 y.o.) because she will be traveling from VA, but she has a sitter. I have my 2 younger cousins, 16 and 18, who will usher my guests in. Then, I have some OOT relatives that might be coming, so they are allowed.
So I guess my answer is kinda yes, I am allowing certain families to being their kids, if others don't like it TS, I'm paying for my wedding, not them! (ooooo so bridezilla there hehe )

We are making the cut off age 18..We originally were not having any second cousins, but do to personal family reasons I needed to make it 18 with three exceptions for OOT guests and my two neices.

make an age limit, even 16 could be a good cut off. Depending on what ages you have... would 16 cut out many of them? if not, make it 18 ya know

Re: MAJOR ISSUE WITH MINORS!!!

i guess the real problem is that i have 4 little cousins that im really close to. ages 10, 12, and 16. FH says that if they go, all the other kids on my side and his should be allowed to go! ughhh ... i dont want to play favorites but i dont have the heart to tell them that they cant be at my wedding!! DECISIONS DECISIONS!!!

We said ONLY the FG and RB and then anyone over 16 and SURPRISE the next 'youngest' person was 19. We had a few people on FH's side give us a REALLY hard time about it but I don't care.

We did adults only. We will have one 14 year old there but he is the only teen in both of our families.

Re: MAJOR ISSUE WITH MINORS!!!

We allowed only his goddaughter (age 10) and my cousins (the youngest was 10..after that they were all over 12 and very well behaved).

To be honest, at age 12, these kids definatly knew how to act appropriately at a wedding. THey danced and had alot of fun, but weren't immature or did anything bad.

Our flower girls and ring bearers are invited to stay (all under the age of 6) ... but everyone else is 21 and up

Re: MAJOR ISSUE WITH MINORS!!!

Our Jr BM's (8 & 10) will be there until after the meal then they will be going home. Apart from that my 2 sisters (BM's) are 14 and 16 will be there for the night. The only others will be FH's niece 15 and my cousin 13. My cousin will be going home with the JR. BM's.
My flower girls are going home after the Church and my aunt is happy to have the day to herself with no kids.
