MAJOR VENDOR COMPLAINT ***Update posted on thread***

Hi, I don't post often on the boards but I felt obligated to do so. After reading raving reviews of a store beginning with an L in Baldwin, my bridesmaids ordered their dresses.

Last night was the first fitting and my MOH goes into the fitting room and can't zip the dress around the bust, there is a 3 in gap in the back. The 2nd BM goes in and has a 2.5 inch gap and the 3rd (who happens to be a model) zips her dress but can't breathe. The dresses were puckering b/c they were so tight and looked awful.

The seamstresses remeasure them and all of their measurements are wrong on their receipts. They tell them that they all must have gained inches in their bust. My BMs are all thin, all 3 dresses were size 6. Meanwhile, they are whispering that they can't really fix the dresses and would have to piece the backs of the dresses together to close the gap. The store blamed the girls for 'gaining inches.' You have got to be kidding me, all 3 of the BMs are only A or B cups and they gained inches around their ribcage?!?! Instead of saying maybe the manufacturer cut the dress wrong, or sent the wrong size, or doing anything to help they immediately accused the girls of gaining weight and said there was nothing they can do about it.

So we walked out of the store, and the BMs have no dresses for my Sept wedding.

OMG!!!!!!!! I'm so sorry!!!

did you try speaking with management? could you call the manufacturer yourself?

Re: MAJOR VENDOR COMPLAINT

That is ridiculous you need to call and speak with the owner of the shop.
How Dare They Treat you and your girls like that!!!!
Calling the manufacturer directly sounds like a good idea too.
They should know how their product is being represented.

yes ive heard of the callling the manufacturer thing...however if the people at the store were the ones that wrote and sent the wrong messages, theres very little that the manufacturer can do for you.

I would try and speak with management at the store... if thats who you dealt with, threaten them with a call to the better business bureau...that always ruffles a few feathers...

Were the girls measurements taken at the store, or did they call them in?

Re: MAJOR VENDOR COMPLAINT

What they should do is measure the dresses and make sure the manufacterer sent the right sizes according to their size chart. The dress shop starting with the L should then call the manufacterer if that is the problem. If the shop was the one who measured the girls when they first ordered and the girls sincerely did not gain weight or are not bloated at this time then the shop should rectify the situation. If you need help I know a shop that might be able to help. FM me if you want info.

I had a horrible experience with that alterations department! They are extremely unprofessional and it doesn't suprise me to hear this! I wish I had never gotten my alterations there, or my veils which they also botched!

i had a horrible experience w/ them too.. i called to see if they had a specific dress and they told me it was way to early for me to even be thinking about dresses since my wedding was a year away...and thats only 1/4 of it!!! from that point on i knew that place was off limits for me and my bp. I can't believe they did that, 2 months before your wedding!!! you should complain online at the BBB

Do they have a lot of hem to take up?

If they do - they can probably add that material on each side into the seam (if there's a side seam) - it would probably give them at least two to three inches. They could probably make it look like a 'V' shape insert under the armpit (god i hate that word)... it wouldn't be seen in the pics since you're not doing a close up of that area.

Just a suggestion.... HTH

My FSIL had problems there too with her wedding dress.

She even had to bring the dress back the morning of her wedding for them to fix a mistake and they charged her $50 more dollars to fix their error!

***UPDATE*** MAJOR VENDOR COMPLAINT

I had my mother call the manufacturer because she is great in these situations. The manufacturer could not tell her anything specific because of the contract with the store but said that there was a definite problem with the order.

The manufacturer is sending us today to a different bridal store to get remeasured and promised to get us new dresses in 3-4 weeks and also get the girls deposits back. It is cutting it a little close to the wedding, but honestly in 3-4 weeks we aren't really that much worse off then we are right now.

Worse comes to worse, they will all just have to go buy black gowns, but I really did not need this added stress right now!

Thank you all for your support. I kind of wish I posted more often on these boards because I have definitely had many freak outs about this wedding and you girls are so helpful!

moms are so helpful in that kinda situation!!! I guarantee you there have been other complaints about that store to the manufacturer or else they wouldnt have been so willing to work with you like that. Maybe that store will start losing some major business (as if they wont already... they dont seem to know that word spreads rather quickly through LIW). I hope everything works out for you!
