make up $$$

i was xmas shopping the other day at walt whitman (and i finished, yay go me!) and decided to stop in the MAC store. i talked to a person there and asked about the cost of a make up trial. she said a trial is free so long as you buy 4 things. that isnt a problem for me b/c i need to pick up on a few things there anyway. so i asked what the cost of it is the day of. she told me 180 for the bride and 80 for each other girl or mother etc. what is the brides face harder to do? i wear minimal make up anyway, i just want a natural look.

this is the first time i have asked about prices. what i want to know is 180 the normal price that i will be encountering?

I was going to go in there for trials as well - I love MAC and love the excuse for buying more makeup...

Now what am I going to do? Should I pay that amount if I like them??? Is that an ok price??

On average, the day of is about $125-$150 for the bride. Some people charge a lot more, up to $300.

So I would say $180 is about slightly higher than average.

Just wanted to let you girls know that I met a Mary Kay rep at a bridal expo and she does great work, she did a trial for me ($20) and she is coming to my house the day of the wedding, not only is she cheap...but for every bridsmaid that she does ($35 each) she will take money off of my price, so I could esentially end up getting my makeup for free and on top of that, she gives me the lipstick as a gift so that I can reapply as needed!

MU gets pricey esp for the bride. They tell me that they spend more time on the bride-they shouldn't be slopping it on tho!

The BM are usually abour 65-80 depending from what I have seen. I just accepted the high price for me and I am paying for my BM anyway! I won't have the time for a salon or cheaper option so I have to deal!

I am paying 300.00 for hair and make up
my girls are paying 150.00 for hair and make up
I know she will do just as good on them as on me.. well alitle more on my hair but 2xs the $$$$$

different MAC artists charge different prices. I did a trial w/ one at Bloomingdales MAC - Roosevelt Field and she told me it would be $160 for me and $80 for BMs. She said if she could make it in time for work she would charge me less/person. Since my wedding was on Saturday, she had to take into account she might lose $$ for taking a day off.

I ended up using Denise from Angel Eyes
trial -$30
day of airbrushing -$125
traditional-$100, BM-$60

ETA and yes mentioning bride does = more money!!

i asked a makeup artist at the mac store in the flatiron bldg. she said it's $40 but you have to go to the store.. i didn't say i was a bride tho, i'm sure it would have been jacked up.. i would go to the store the day of.. it's inconvenient but it's way cheaper!

Most of my makeup for the day was MAC.
Freelancer Nicole Tenga did a wonderful job on the entire party. A great deal cheaper than $180.00

wow! $180 for the bride? I didn't pay anywhere near that and I used Jillian who is EXCELLENT!

the bride is always more... for everything! hair too
