Make-up advice

So I dint like my make-up trial ... I used a girl, but not happy... Anyone use MAC girls?? I was thinking of going there .. seeing if I like how they do my make-up... if I do I was gonna ask if they can come to the house? Any suggestions?? I have fairly tan skin, and the girl airbrushed me and I looked like a ghost! Plus I really dont like a lot of face mak-up... ... so lost wedding in 2 weeks...

Re: Make-up advice

I had my makeup done once at the Prescriptives counter in Bloomingdale's a few years ago. The guy who did it gave me his card and said he does in-home makeup as well.

I don't think the makeup people at the department stores are supposed to advertise their off-the-clock services, but if you ask someone from mac they might do it for you (or know someone who does come to your home).

Another suggestion is try craigslist. Sometimes up and coming makeup artists are on there.

it depends what you want...honestly, MAC is a VERY heavy look. I worked for them once upon a time. Everyone there is extremely talented - but just know that if you don't like heavy stuff, you may not be 100% satisfied. Where are you located?? Nassau? Suffolk? i know some artists - maybe i can help u out??

i have gone to mac girls and former mac girls. I never honestly liked my makeup. it was too heavy or the foundation wsa too light. I would go someplace else first.

I agree, they like the extremely heavy eye and overdone make up. Thats why i never get my make up done by them when ive done it at department stores, i like a smokey eye but usually they do it to the extreme. SOME ive seen can listen and not do too dramatic but just know you can run the possibility of getting it overly done. If you want simple try the Bobby Brown counter.

Or where are you located, maybe somebody can recommend a salon to you. Or if you want can recommend a wedding make up artist that travels to you, hopefully somebody will still be available.

Re: Make-up advice

I had a trial at the MAC counter in WW Mall and I was happy but not thrilled...and she was more expensive than anyone I went to out of the 4 makeup trials I had ($175 for the bride!). She didn't do a heavy look but she didn't put on false eyelashes and the color of lipstick she chose was too pale (it almost matches my natural lip color- for pics, it would have been too light). Have you tried any of the vendors here- Oksana, Karen Wysoki, the Pedala sisters, all have good reputations....M/I/A is also very popular. M/I/A and Oksana book up very quickly though! Good luck!!!!!
