You can book her w/o a trial, but I'm guessing you'd want a trial just to get your look down. You don't want her putting on then taking off layer after layer of your m/u the morning of your wedding. This way you also see how long the look lasts and everything.

Why don't you want to do a trial?

I don't think it's a terrible idea to book without a trial. However, I would suggest at some point after booking, having a trial that way you can see what you like/don't like, and it can be tweaked before the wedding.

I did this, just because i know my artist books up fast and there have been so many great reviews on her. i plan on going through a trial run about two months before my wedding to get my look right

I booked Oksana w/o a trial, and then I knew I had her and can wait til closer to the wedding to see what would go best w/ the look i created. I wasn't disappointed at ALL. She exceeded my expectations - pics in my album!!

Honestly... I don't think you should do that. No matter how well known they are on here or how many pictures you see of their work... you never know what your make-up might turn out like.

Also, don't forget... a lot of brides are 'bullied' into not posting negative reviews. And a lot of the negative reviews get deleted. The more positive ones seem to stick around... so you might be seeing the positive ones more... but that doesn't mean every customer is 100% satisfied and truely loved the work they did. I speak from personal experience here. I had an awful awful MU trial experience. And THANKFULLY I went on a trial... because if someone did that to me the day of... I would have really flipped out!! And I'm a very calm bride.

doesn't sound crazy at all. remember there may be some unsatisfied customers with some makeup artists but like everyone they all have bad days and stuff. if you have seen work that you like i would go for it. the one thing that you really have to know is, 'is their customer service up to par'. that would be the only main concern for me because a good makeup artist can do a variety of looks. just make sure to have specific pictures of what you want and they should be able to replicate it. i was a bridesmaid in my sisters wedding and i didn't have a trial with her mac (from the counter in macys) makeup artist. my sister barely had a trial with her...nothing formal that is. this lady did an AWESOME job....prob better than i have ever seen. go with your gut.

I wouldn't do it simply because I wouldn't want trial and error the morning of my wedding

I did this because I had no choice. I am an OOT bride and can't go to NY that often. I booked based on alot of recommendations on this site.

I was very laid back with my wedding also. However, I don't recommend on booking with a make-up artist w/o a trial. Although, the make-up artist is confident with her work, it might appear different depending on your skin color, hair, eyes, etc. It's better to do a trial to see if you want any changes to your make-up incase it doesn't go with the dress style or accessories. I show my make-up artist/hairstylist pictures of how I want my hair & make-up to be done and it turned out different from the photos due to skin color, eyes, hair type. So just to be on the safe side, def do a trial to see if you like it first. If you pay for the trial, it will be credit to your booking pkg.

I booked my makeup artist without a trial because I knew I wanted her for my wedding day. I don't plan on actually having a trial until early 2010.

I think the credit towards your wedding for doing a trial depends on th artist. My m/u artist doesn't credit the trial towards the day of.

Yea, you're right, I forgot that varies from artist to artist but normally artist would give the credit since you're booking them.
