Re: make up brand recomendations
I like Elizabeth Arden eye make up. Other brands have a tendency of disappearing on me. At the Red Door in Garden City, there's a make up artist named Josephine who is excellent. She's great at explaining what she's doing, so you can recreate the look on your own.

Re: make up brand recomendations
I'm obsessed with make-up... doesn't mean I can do my own very well, but I can reccommend some amazing products that I love.
Most of these are from Sephora...
LORAC Breakthrough Performance Foundation **Amazing! Blends so evenly all over your face. I've never been so impressed with a foundation before. LORAC @ Sephora
DiorSkin Icone Photo Perfect Creme-To-Powder Makeup **Works great as a concealor and the colors are very easy to match to your skin tone. If you have a lot of dark circles around your eyes, this will do the trick. L=http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P141956&searchString=diorskin%20icone]Dior[/L] ]Dior - Shephora[/L]
Any of the eyeshadow by Stilla is really great and very shimmery.
Benefit's BADgal Lash Mascara **The brush might look big and scary and very easily clump-able, but it's NOT. This mascara makes me look like I'm wearing fake lashes and it does NOT clump (which, IMO, is hard to find) BADgal Mascara - Sephora
NARS Blush - Org@sam **This blush has a little gold shimmery tint to it and looks good on any skin color... black, white, purple, green... doesn't matter! NARS - Sephora

If you dont like as much makeup as me also, go to Mac and have them do a trial on your eyes. This way you can see how it looks before so you can purchase it and just do it yourself the day off.

I swear by DiorShow Mascara....it is absolutely amazing and makes you look like you have fake lashes!
How about a good liner that doesn't dry out? NOT a liquid one though.

I actually use a black MAC eyeshadow (carbon) and an eye-liner brush by bobby brown... it works flawlessly and does not dry out at all. It is better than any other liner I have ever used!

I love the Sephore brand... It's just your typical pencil... you could probably get it cheaper at a drug store by a different brand.
Stila also makes really great eye liner that goes on very smooth, it's a pencil, but it has a little bit of shimmer to it... I don't know if that black has shimmer, but the brown-ish color that I have is shimmery.
I swear by the products I just reccommended... if you order them, I promise you won't be disappointed! (I hope!!!)

Re: make up brand recomendations
Thank you for the mascara recommendation!!! I have been searching for a non clumping one forever it seems. And the ones you buy in CVS are usually $6-7, so $9 for that one is completely reasonable.
Here is another question for you, Makeup Diva ... :) Have you found a good concealer for under eye pigmentation?? If you do not have it I can see how you wouldn't. But I have purpleish pigmentation under my eyes, and even my makeup artist for the wedding had to use 3 differnt things to get it covered up. I could get those three from her, but I am looking for more of an everyday product that will work ...
BUT - I don't know if it will make you look like a reverse racoon because of the reflective properties in the minerals (when getting your pic taken - the flash). I swear by it for when I don't get a good night's sleep.

i just bought smashbox gel eyeliner at ulta. I told her no liquid also and i really like this because it stays on and kind of looks like liquid but is soooo easy to put on.

I love the Smashbox gel liner.
Avon makes it too - just as good. The Avon liner brush is craptastic though - invest in a good one.

I use BM all the time but don't have this. I use bisque for under my eyes, but I don't think it does too much, honestly - I think it's better for covering up red than purple. Do you think this might work for purple?

I have bisque and well rested in one - I use the bisque for red (like blemishes) and the well rested for under eye. It totally works on purple!!!
Be careful though - a little tiny bit goes a LONG way. Blend, blend, blend!
I LOVE it.

so far i love it - I always get raccoon eyes and this doesn't do that.
the salesgirl recommended a brush - i can't remember, something with a number on it - and it seems pretty good. the brushes are KEY.

i use BM too but never used this either. I think I use fairly light for under my eyes. wonder if this works better - i'll have to check it out.
