make up person

Do you all think that the make up person really necessary? Do they do something that I could not do myself? What are the average prices? I appreciate your help!

Yes, I think they are professionals at putting on make-up and know the colors that look good on you. I look so much better when someone else does my make-up and she is doing airbrushing which will stay on longer and look flawless in pics. IMO, if you are spending so much on pics, you want to look your best in them

DEFINITELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

since I am not very good applying makeup in the first place, the last thing I would consider is doing it myself for the most important day of my life.

who needs the stress? JMHO

I think its worth it because they are professionals- they know what will look good on you, and in pictures. A lot of times we think its too much makeup, but is perfect for pics.
Also, its nice to be pampered on your wedding day!

YES - don't do your makeup yourself. Even if you are skilled at it, you don't want to have to worry about that on your wedding day. It's the one time that it's easy to justify being pampered!

It's one of those things you have to decide on for yourself. If I was good at doing my own make up, I would. Unfortunately, I'm not. The make-up artist with whom I am working knows what make-up will last all day and night, what will look good in pictures without looking overdone in person, etc.

My SIL did her own makeup and she looked great in pictures and in person. But I could never accomplish that myself.

Yes. I think professional pictures require a different amount of makeup and skill of makeup. Plus, I think professional makeup lasts longer.

I really think it depends.

I think a skilled make up artist is really helpful if you are not into make up and don't apply it often.

If you wear make up every day and and feel that you can get the look you want without help then go for it.

I am doing it myself, only because I had trials and didn't like anyone, neither did my mom or FI. Everyone liked it better when I do it, plus I don't want to look different or strange. I can't afford an artist thats like $200 that would do it better than me, so I am just gonna do it myself. I think it realy depends on how good you can do it and what you can afford.

It's especially important for your photos.

Photographers will tell you to get it done by a professional.

definitely! At least for me! I know I'll be way too nervous to do my own makeup!

I definitely agree..but I think it depends on each person, b/c I don;t wear anything but lipstick/gloss on a daily basis So for me, I wouldn't even know where to start!
