Make up Travel

I am at the point of finding someone to do my make up. She asks that I provide a car for her to and from the hall. Is this typical?

All of the make up artists I spoke to provided for their own transportation (though some asked for me to pay train of course).

I have heard of make artists charging for transportation - public transportation. I haven't really heard of ones requesting their own car.

Providing stipend for transportation - yes! Getting them transportation - NO!

I have been told they charge for transportation over a certain # of miles, but if they are local then they don't charge it.

I can't see paying for that. JMO

I have never heard of supplying the transportation. Paying for it maybe, but not the car.

Yes, a lot of the more expensive artists (in the city) will charge for travel outside of Manhattan--I know it sounds crazy b/c they charge so much but I think it is the norm...I spoke to at least 4 artists in Manhattan that wanted a car service or $100-$200 for travel expenses...

A stylist in NYC requested car service to and from my hotel in Westchester. I think it's normal if the person is coming from an area where people don't usually have a car, like NYC.

All the makeup artists Ive spoken to in NYC and one in NJ said they would charge me traveling fees / or I'd have to book a cab for them.

Sounds crazy on top of their fees but its true!

lol me and my sister were just discussing the same thing!! the prices Ive been quoted lately has been ridiculous..they get paid lots of money (usually in cash!) and have fun doing it!!!
