hi girls, so yesterday i had my makeup and hair trials.
i was very happy with the hair, but i had not as good an experience with my makeup.
first off, i just want to acknowledge that i absolutely love the lady who did my makeup --- i'm in her salon all the time. i wear very, very little makeup regularly, and she of course knows that. we have a great relationship, and all of my girls are going to her place on the day of for hair and makeup.
ok, so here's my question ---- (silly, probably) IS ALL EYESHADOW SHIMMERY??
i don't like shimmer but it seems like the only stuff that was put on me was shimmery...
should i investigate other much more MATTE eyeshadows? do they exist? does anyone have any suggestions?
please help. i want to give her my business, but i also want to be overjoyed with how everything turns out.

Re: MAKE UP TRIAL - eyeshadow?
def not all eyeshadow is shimmery. . I would say go look at mag pics or go to a makeup counter at a dept store and say I want this type of look what do you rec? then say you dont want shimmery - but do you want smoky? sultry? trad bride? pink tones etc? Then you can even buy it if you like it and give it to your makeup person to work with. . and if you dont like it, try another place or ask that place for different shades. . GOOD LUCK

Matte eyeshadow definetily exists.
Google 'Matte Eyeshadow Brands' -- a TON of stuff comes up. Like these for example
mac carries a huge selection of matte eyeshadow..i refuse to wear shimmery shadow so i get it all from them..i know what you mean with the sparkles

There are mattes but just be careful how they translate in pics. It can seem 'muddy'.

Re: MAKE UP TRIAL - eyeshadow?
I would tell her the same exact thing you told us...you love her and want to use her for your makeup on your day but do not love the shimmery eyeshadow on you. I would bring in magazine pics of eye makeup you love that is more matte-looking and ask her to do your next trial like those. She probably did it shimmery bec she thought it would look better in pics Did you get pics of your trial? Esp if you are having an evening wedding shimmery shadow looks great, you might want to look at pics before you decide? Or maybe just a touch of shimmer?

Re: MAKE UP TRIAL - eyeshadow?
It's great to have shimmery eyeshadow on ONE part of the eye - say JUST the lid, or JUST the highlight on your browbone. Careful with the latter though, cause it can reflect in pics and look like you're glowing from your eyebrows! Eyeshadows come in matte, satin, and shimmery, from least sparkly to most. They're definitely out there - I just purchased a whole bunch of colors from MAC - I actually sell Mary Kay, so I feel like a traitor, but I do love the MAC colors and staying power and wanted something different than my everyday looks. I don't necessarily like the way the MAC girl did my eyes, but I toned it down and made it my own (I'm doing the MU myself) Anyway, if you like the artist, just provide her with the colors - it's all in the application technique! Good luck!
