make up trial UPDATE, much happier now!

i am really second guessing who i chose for doing my makeup. i suffer from darknesses under my eyes, and i was hoping that i could get that covered up, but when i went for the make up trial she kept saying that she already put on concealor, but yet i still saw circles. dont makeup artists have special stuff to cover this up?

so when i came home i took pics and it looked ok in daylite, but in darker lighting my circles looked worse. i showed my mom and she said the same thing. but i dont know what to think now. i was going to a salon that did both for convience issues, but i think i am going to have to change that now.

i would post pics, but i think they look awful.

I'm so sorry. I too had the circles and my makeup artist thankfully covered them up at my trial. I think you should have another trial just to put your mind at ease, preferably with someone else. I'm sure you looked beautiful!!! Good luck!

I don't think you should chance it on such an important day. Maybe you can try airbrushing? It can even hide tattoos! I'm using Jacqueline Nicole, a vendor on here. She's fantastic!! Try her!!! Good luck!

I think you should try another makeup artist. I know it's late, but I think a professional artist should be able to completely hide circles under eyes. It can't hurt to see what someone else to do- you should feel beautiful on your wedding day, and if you stick with her you may be worried all day about it- you don't want that added extra stress.

Did you do a regular foundation or airbrush?

The MU artist should have been able to put the right dark circle product.

regular foundation. i think airbrish would be too much, as i barely wear make up. usually everyday i do foundation and concealor for the circles (i have italian skin ). and i cover them up pretty good. i thought a MU artist could as well. it looked ok in daylite, but in dark lighting it looked awful!

i have another appt. tonite.

You should at least try the airbrushing. I do not wear ANY foundation at all and I did a trial with both regular and airbrush just to see which I liked. Even tthough the airbrush was more makeup, it looked more natural in the pictures on me. Good luck!

Re: make up trial

I tend to get a shadow on the side of my nose and it took quite a few different makeup artists to find one who listened to what I was saying and actually used different shading techniques to get rid of my nose shadow. I originally thought airbrushing would fix it but through the trials I realized I needed different shades to be manually applied. You can FM me and I can give you her info.

If you are second guessing it, I would go with someone else. You want to be as comfortable as possible on your big day.

I don't wear any coverup/foundation at all and I was sooooo much more comfortable with airbrush. it just felt lighter/more natural to me. good luck with your 2nd appt, i hope it goes better!!! i was going to use my salon out of convenience as well, but ended up booking someone else bc they did a much better job!

Re: make up trial

I have had a hard time with my makeup as well - i found going to a makeup counter in the mall helpful - i went to stila and even though i will not be using them they had good ideas that i told my makeup artist about and was able to incorporate

Re: make up trial

OK so i went to the second trial and i am so happy with what she did!

originally i had an appt at the clinique counter at sunrise mall. when i called this afternoon they said a trial costs the purchase of three makeup items. i said this is for a visit to the house, and was told yes. so me and mom get there and first we ask what the price is the day of and they say that you have to buy every makeup item that they will be using on you plus a fee! i then said no way and that i thought they come to your house with a little kit etc.

at that point i was pretty mad, as i want to get this out of the way, so we decided to go walt whitman and ask the girls at the counters there about what they charge etc.

so we get to bloomingdales and start asking around, but i wanted to get a trial tonite and no one that did make up was there at the moment. we walked over to the christian dior counter and met a very nice girl. we asked her the price and she said starting at $200 a person. so at that point, i didnt really want to even try it b/c what if i loved it? i wasnt about to pay $200 for makeup. she then came down ALOT and i am getting makeup for 3 people for under $300. and the best part? everyone's trials will be free (me, my MOH and my mom). and she will come to the house and will be using all dior products. she seems to be young and starting out, but she does have experience under her belt and i love the job she did! i booked her.

below are pics. these are from the first trial, that i didnt like.

these three are from the dior trial. i notice a difference right away. there wasnt time for a full lip application, but i know what she is doing, so i will go in another day for it. i am just doing a light lip gloss and a lite lip liner.
