Make up Trials?

Make up Trials?

OK, forgive my ignorance, but how do these work?

I want to begin my search by going to one of the dept store counters (ie MAC, Clinique, etc). Do I have to make an appt to have a makeup trial? Does it usually cost anything? What if I LOVE the way the person applied my makeup? Can I book him/her independantly for the day of?

Ahhh, so many questions! Thanks!

I had a trial at MAC in Walt Whitman Mall. I made an appt bec it can take about an hour...I made the appt when I was at the MAC counter and I asked beforehand (and also for prices) to make sure that she did freelance wedding makeup. FYI at the MAC counter there is no charge for the trial but they usually have you buy $50 worth of products...the makeup artist told me I didn't have to but this is what I heard (not hard to do if you love MAC though lol!)
Also check out the makeup vendors here...most are really good (read Jacqueline's post though on here-it is about a liweddings makeup and hair vendor!!) These vendors usually charge for a trial (mine were $50 each). I used Oksana and she was great. The Pedala sisters don't charge for trials but are expensive for the day of so it evens out lol.
