makeup

Ok, mom and grandma gave me $100 for my bday. I was thinking of gettigna new set of makeup. I currently use random sampling of drug store makeup (loreal maybeline, etc) But I was thinking of going to someone at macy's or something to get soem stuff and a makeover type thing done. I would also like moisturizer and face wash stuff maybe. Any ideas or recommendations on brands or places? I am 27 and still break out on my face. I wash my face but it doesnt' seem to make a difference!!!!

Anyway, any help??? Is $100 enough?

I am the wrong person to answer this, 100 would never be enough for me with makeup lol. For some reason I always pay way more. I just fell in love with Sheseido makeup, it looks and feels great but others swear by Mac. You should be able to get makeup for 100 dollars, just not sure if you can get all of the cleansers and moisturizers with it for that much but I am sure it is possible. Good Luck

I really like the Bobby Brown stuff I have bought but its sooooo expensive ($100 wont get you too far).

but im not the best person to say either because i rarely wear makeup (just like to buy)

I also have breakout prone skin, and I have found that no one brand of cosmetics meets all of my needs. I use (and love) Lancome foundation and powder, MAC blush and eye shadow, Perscriptives concealer, and Clinique mascara. As for face wash, I swear by Cetaphil. It is the only thing that doesn't irritate my skin or clog my pores.

Money-wise, $100 will get you started, but it won't get you everything you need.

Thanks ladies. I dont need to get ALL of it, but maybe the skin part (foundation and lotions...) Other than that I dont wear much makeup anyway. I can stick with my maybeline lipstick ;-)

If you break out alot and have sensitive skin you might want to try Clinique.

mims- just an idea- buy something when they have the free gifts, this way you can sample the other products.

try merle norman, i went to them for an eval + makeup lesson and left with makeup for under $100! And it was sooo fun.

For breakouts believe it or not PROACTIVE is great. My husband uses it and it keeps his skin sooo clear. It really works! Mac eyeshadows are wonderful!! So are Borgesie(SP?)

and what exactly is proactive? is it acne medicine?

Proactive is a 'kit'that can be sent to your house every 2-3 months. it has a cleanser, toner, blemish cream and I think something else. My husband swears by it. He stopped using it for a bit to see if it was making a difference or it was coincedence... It wasn't -that stuff keeps your face clear and smooth and your pores tiny.you can check out the web site.
Vanessa Williams uses it-I think she is one of the spokes people. She always had bad break out. Hope this helps .... Just had to share because my DH has great results.

If you ever go to the makeup counters, always look who is working behind there before you ask them to put it on you. Some of them wear way too much.
