I know this has been asked before, but I don't think we have come to a clear consensus, so I thought a poll would work. TIA!

Re: makeup
call me bitter but from working in a salon i have my own opinion when its comes to working with the 'owner' they dont work off tips or get a percentage of the that payment like everyone else.
i would give them the same amount you would give anyone else, dont worry about the title.
i would say you CAN actually give less but the owners are usually the biggest diva's and you dont want them taking it out on you on the big day

Re: makeup
Nothing - I would just tip the day of the wedding, but then I always give 20%. It's just a trial and if you don't like it.. you are spending SO much money!

I agree with this, and I kind of did it by accident since I didn't even think to tip her!! It was just a trail so I paid for the trial, she will get a nice tip on the wedding day from all the girls she is doing! I plan on picking up the tip for all my girls so they are only paying for the actual makeup, if that makes sense.

I always hear not to tip the owner.... I may give 5 dollars for a trial but only if I were really happy and were going to book.

Re: makeup
If they're getting 100% of what you're paying them, I would use your discretion. If she is amazing and you want to book her, give a little extra. If shes good or OK, I wouldn't give any extra.
Like my florist, the owner is the one who makes everything, delivers, and sets everything up at my hall, so I will be tipping her nicely!
But my makeup artist is a private girl who has no studio or overhead. So I'm giving her what she charges, and a little extra for coming to my hotel.
