makeup and hair advice - timing?

Hi ladies,

I'm having some trouble figuring out how I will get my makeup and hair and all of that of my bridesmaids (4 of them) done the morning before my wedding. My ceremony is at 11pm but we're hoping to pre-wedding shoots starting at 9am. I'm hearing from makeup and hair artists that it takes them 2 hours to do just me and an hour to do each brides maid - that's like 6 hours!! What do you girls do? Do I have to hire extra people? Because a lot of the makeup and hair people have minimums of like 3 or 4 people they must work on - in which case, it doesn't seem like I'd be able to have enough people to do for 2 people. Or shoudl I get separte people for makeup and for hair - if i do that, do they work simultaneously? I'm looking into sissi chan and reiko utsugi, both of whom do both hair and makeup... any advice on how to figure out timing would be really helpful. thanks!!!

i would use someone who does just hair an someone who does just make up bc this way at least 2 of you are getting done at the same time. YES it will take 2 hours just for you, its 1 hr for hair 1 hr for make up. At my house morning of there were only 3 of us who had hair and make up done by my hair and make up artists. It was me, my mom and MOH. Although each person takes 2 hours and for 3 ppl would mean 6 hours, it only took 3 hours bc while one person was getting hair, at the same time somebody would be getting make up done and vice versa. We started at 10am and it was done by 1am, maybe even just a little bit before bc my moms hair didnt take that long. The rest of my bm's went to a salon of their choice to get hair and make up and were at my house by 11am.

If there are 5 of you, then will take close to 5 hours unless they ppl maybe have a more simple hair style or something and works a bit quicker, but i say to at least give 4 hours. Usually when girls have an early ceremony they do start around 5-6am getting ready. You can hire somebody just for bm's if you want, ive seen girls do that. Or tell them they can get it done elsewhere if they want, which alot wont mind since it would be less expensive for them.

I was in the same boat as you...ceremony at 11 and pre-wedding shoot at 9 at RH. I had 2 separate people for hair and makeup and 5 ppl incl me and my hair and makeup ladies just told me they would be there at 5 AM that morning. We were fine with the time. At one point both my hair and makeup ladies were working on me simultaneously...the hair artist pinned up my hair first, then worked on everyone else while my hair was setting. You should be fine with 5 or 4:30 AM (also take into account how far where you are having the hair and makeup done is from where you are taking the pics. We were 1/2 hour away) but I would also ask them what time the artists think they need to arrive to get all the girls and you done.
