makeup artist!
Ok so I have one now. HAH! Went to Sephora yesterday and poked around with different things. Started with one girl but she was spazzy so I ended up with this other girl about my age with cool eyeshadow. She was very good. Whats ironic is that she ended up using the colors I used to go with lol, before I started reading magazines and trying to find a new 'Neutral' look.
What I realized is that my 'natural' look is different than the norm, because of my coloring. She used bronzer as a blush and much warmer lipstick colors than I normally go for. I wanted a red lip because I am wearing red shoes on the Big Day, but most red look terrible on me-too pink. She had to layer a reddish tone with an orange sheer lipstick fo all things and it ended up looking SO FIERCE! Has some gold fleck to it. I
would never have chosen the color, thinking it too loud. But it looks fantastic and so does the bronzer she chose which in the compact looks terracota. I don't look 'neutral' at all as seen in magazines with nude lips, but I look like me just glowy and natural. Im naturally tan all year round lol. people are ALWAYS asking me where 'I went,' assuming that I was on vacation because I have naturally have the warm golden undertones that most people get when they tan.
She did try the neutral lipsticks on me, but I looked dead. My skin is too warm for those very pale colors unless they have goldy rose or orangey tints to them. It was really surprising because she put pink blush on one side of my face and only bronzer on the other and was SUCH a HUGE difference. She said I have a 'color' face which means even when I go 'natural' I have to use much warmer colors than most women or I end up looking sick.
We went through like 25 lip colors lol. She kept putting on, examining, taking off. She was really very good and she was blunt which I liked. LOL Told me that though I may look good wearing fuschia and red as clothing, if I wear fuchia colors on my face as makeup, I will look like a whore. -grins- I was like 'ok don't hold back now.' LOL but she's right. They are too bright and other pinks are too light. She said blush should always be the color you flush. She said a good way of determining blush color is to pay attention to the color your cheeks get when you work out, because thats the natural color you flush.
She also gave me great info for any ladies interested in knowing about makeup- MAC, Smashbox and I forget the other, are considered studio makeup, whcih means they give you that perfect, camera ready look. BUT they are not meant to be worn everyday for 8 hours a day because they don't let your skin breathe. She said they are the best for that matte, creamy natural look, but for everyday use, you're better off with other foundations. She suggsted Neutrogena ironically, which i already use.
I was talking to her and mentioned how expensive makeup artists are and she said she would drive to paterson NJ for me and back-no charge for gas and charge me 100 bucks day of. I figure I'll feed her breakfast and it all works out. Soooo pleased!
BTW, Sm
