Makeup artist: Is all day touch up services worth it?

Makeup artist: Is all day touch up services worth it?

4.5 hours between ceremony and reception. I feel like by the time reception time comes my make up will be gone.

I got a quote for $100 per hour!

A makeup artist suggested that I take make up with me and someone can help me put it on along the way.

Has anyone done this? Did your makeup stay put for many hours?

if you have a good makeup person your makeup should last all night let alone 4.5 hours!

imo i don't think it's worth it

Nope! Thats so not worth it! After your trial, buy some of the make up the make up artist used and just retouch!

Mya told me that I'd only need to retouch cheeks and lips, so she gave me a list of the stuff I needed to buy. That will save you lots of $$$$$

I didn't opt for it, my makeup stayed the whole time, I just had to reapply my lip gloss

i don't think it's worth it ...

but another option is to hire her for the time before your ceremony ... and again for the time before your reception (so you don't have to pay for the down-time). If she won't do it, then hire her for JUST the ceremony, and then hire someone else for just the reception

but yeah, it really should last that long anyhow.

my makeup last all day/night. i only brought extra lipstick with me for touchups and oil blotting sheets, but i didnt even need them. got my makeup done at 11:30 and the ceremony started at 6pm.

I say its not worth it. are you going to have her sit around until you remember to fix it. you wont even be thinking about it while you're dancing etc.

Definitely not, if you hire a good makeup artist it will last all day. I just reapplied my lip gloss during pictures.

Thanks guys, I am probably going to hire someone in the morning and just keep makeup on me.


BTW One person tried to quote the whole thing for $3000 for makeup. I know my wedding date is around the corner but seriously?

As my aunt said, 'You can get a face-lift for that amount of $$'

I'm using a friend straight out of beauty school that's pretty decent....i dont want anything crazy and she does amazing work....she's doing it as a gift to me and she has a spot at the wedding, we weren't close before the wedding but we are now since i started doing my hair with her.

I am a make up artist and I have never done make up for someone who has needed to have touch ups through out the day. I dont think it is worth it! If you feel the need for a touch up, you can bring make up with you, but definitely dont pay the $100 an hour!!!!

Honestly, I only touched up my lipgloss once the entire day. I didn't have to do anything else with my makeup, it lasted from 12PM to 1AM.
