Makeup Poll

I am trying to figure out what I want to do for my makeup on the day of. These prices seem outrageous, but I am very particular and want to look my best! How much is everyone spending, if you dont mind me asking.

I paid $125, which I think is about average if they come to you, but there are vendors that charge more.

Maureen Pedala for example charges about $250 but her trials are free.

She was booked for my day, otherwise I would've booked her, she does amazing work!

I found most NYC based artists charge more then the ones that are on LI

I am using maureen and while she is costly. I basically wasted 150 on hair and makeup trial that I hated from another vendor.

Why not give her a call and go for a free trial then decide if its worth 250 to you.

Trial was $50 (had to buy 4 products - so at least I got something!)

Day of $150, each additional person is $50

I'm using someone from Mary Kay, their trials are free and no pressure to buy!! She charges $50 for day of, but since I'm having other girls done too she's charging us $40 each. Also she comes to the house for day-of.

I feel like I paid so much, but I really didn't.
I paid make-up as part of the gift to the ladies in my bridal party (11 girls). Total cost including myself and tip, I would say was about $800+.

Im going to a MAC counter, buying (sort of)my own make up and my hair stylist will apply it for me - she does make up, just doesnt have her own line. FSIL gets MAC at half price.

I spent a lot on my wedding, but I actually did my own makeup. I went to MAC and had them apply it for me, then I bought all the stuff and did it myself the day of while I was getting my hair done. I didn't like feeling 'clownish' which is how I felt even with the most expensive makeup artists. I'm just not used to that much makeup...

I spent about $100 on new stuff, and used some of my own favorites (my own mascara and my own foundation, I use Bare Minerals and love them).
