After being discouraged after a makeup trial I decided to my makeup myself. I like the way I do my eyes and I feel that no one really knows how to work my droopy over the eyelid bags that practically cover my entire eyelid.
I actually bought all the makeup reccomended in a past post from Sephora (Lorac foundation, NARS blush, BadGal Mascara, Smashbox primer) and then got ForeverMakeup concealer that came highly reccommended by the salesperson. I figure if I'm going to spend a lot of money on makeup, at least I'll be able to keep all of it!
That said, do any of you have any great makeup tips for foundation/blush application? I was told to brush bronzer around the perimeter of my face which picks up nicely in pictures and put foundation on my eyelids to act as a base for the shadow. I was also told to put concealer on over the foundation so its locked in and works better with the foundation. But as for the primer, I have never worked with this stuff and there are no directions on the bottle. It's also clear though so I guess I can't fudge that up too much LOL.
Thanks ladies!

the primer's easy. put a little on (no more than a pea sized amount) and rub it all over your face. it's all silky feeling, and you will know if you got it everywhere because your skin will have that silky feeling. wait about 2 mins. before putting on foundation - i didn't know this until i saw something on tv recently that said you should wait a few mins after putting primer on. I guess it has to 'set.' that's it!
use it now to see how much you need. it should make your makeup last all day. if it doesn't, try a little more. GL!

I have the lancome primer and it's clear. Just put a thin layer on your face before foundation. I have an eye primer also. The one by urban decay is really good. i think it's called potion something...they sell it at sephora. it's in a light purple tube. your eyemakeup won't budge!!!!!!
I've heard put your foundation on and then a little powder to seal it. I always use a little bronzer after.

Thanks ladies! The waiting 2 minutes after putting on primer makes sense - good tip!

You could go to Sephora or any makeup counter in Macy's and they could give you tips. For most, the minimum is just picking up 1 or 2 products. I know in MAC's stores a 'trial' is the cost of $50 worth of products. The thing that is nice about Sephora is that they have a bunch of different brands so you're not locked into one thing. Good luck!

BE CAREFUL with makeup forever, they also recommended it to me but at first it was annoying to deal with. Its very thick and once you put it on you have to smooth it right away and you can only put a little bit on bc the color gets darker right away and if its not even you will have dark spots, plus it can get cakey. I have had it for a while and didnt really use it. I used it recently when i had a pimple to try and cover it up, it works good but i had to put so little of it...now the other problem is if you put something else on top, if the makeup forever isnt done properly and evenly, after you put something else on top it will bring out those dark spots even more. Its very heavy so not sure if you want to use it all over your face to be honest. I put it on just a few spots and i think its too much
i put this concealer around my eyes, on the lids before putting eye make up. You can also get a white shimmery shadow to put in the corner of your eye and a little bit right underneath bottom lash, it makes your eyes pop a bit more and helps if you look tired.
What i do lately, is use just a little bit of concealer on my face on certain spots. Do it right underneath my nose where it gets a little red, if i have any pimples or just a little discoloration. I bought the bare minerals faux tan bronzer and its amazing, love it so much. You need a big brush for it, and once you dip it into the powder blow some off of it, then apply it to your face in round strokes...it gives such a nice flawless look and a nice sun kissed look.
Here is another tip and came in very handy, i learned it on my wedding day lol. Do your eyes first before applying foundation, blush or anything else. The shadow can fall underneath your eyes and get a little messy. I started doing more with my eyes and would do my foundation first and yes after doing eye shadow i had some right underneath my eyes and then cleaning it off would smear a bit and id have to get cotton pads to clean it off and then put concealer on that area again. So what i do now is put concealer just on my lids, not underneath at all...do my eye make up and then after put concealer under my eyes and do foundation

Oh no! Thanks for the heads up. I was just planning on using the concealer under my eyes, but now I'm worried about the dark spot effect! Definitely going to play around with this stuff tonight. Thanks so much, that was really helpful!

what concealer did you get for makeup forever, is it a tube that says full cover? if so wait a few minutes before putting anything on top of it, let it dry a bit. And make sure you really spread it out.

Hmm I'll have to check when I get home - it was the tube that has the small narrow nozzle, no brush. Thanks!

Re: Makeup Tips - doing it myself!
sephora sells a eye makeup primer from urban decay called eye potion, it's amazing. it only comes off with soap or eye makeup remover. I'm doing my makeup myself also so I understand your issues. But I love this primer, so much I may have to buy another one before the wedding.

Re: Makeup Tips - doing it myself!
The Makeup Forever concealer is actually called 'Lift Concealer' - I just put it on and while I had to work it in a little it definitely covered my circles a lot better than any other concealers I've used. So I'm definitely happy with it! Phew!
