Makeup Trial ? from an 06'er

I had a make up trial done by a VERY reputable woman--I have seen her work on here and loved it. She came to my house, was so nice, etc. Except I really didnt like it.

I went to a wedding with the makeup on. No one noticed or said anything. My girls that knew I had it done said I just looked like I had too much eye makeup on.

I said that to her too (I dont wear much makeup normally, but I do like to look nice)
and she said you tend to wear more bc of photos and that I wasnt used to it.
I paid 85 for this and now I am totoally depressed

any suggestion from those who have gotten married?

The trial is to find something you like. Not to be unhappy with the result.
You have to tell your artist if it is too much or too little. They will change it and if you are paying that for a trial they should change it 100 times if you ask until you are happy.

I used DAWN MAS..she works for Mary Kay and does FREE trials and $40 day of. She did GREAT. She wokred with all of us at trials to see what colors we liked best and then taught us how to do our own makeup in the future. She is SO SWEET! I TOTALLY recommend her!

She has a studio in Sayville, but also comes to your house.

Try Maureen Pedala - her trial is free (at least when I going for trials way back when ) if you go to her studio in NYC. She is such a sweetheart and incredibly talented. My makeup lasted all day and all night for my wedding. Here's her website: Maureen Pedala

Also, if you still need a hair person, her sister Claudia is fantastic They might be able to do a hair & makeup trial for you at the same time. Good luck!!

The same happend to me but for my hair. I was soooooo dissapointed by this vendor. I'm still looking. It's better to be dissapointed now than on your wedding day. Try Jackqueline Nicole.

If you weren't happy at the trial go with your gut instinct. I heard so much praise on the boards about a very reputable make-up artist and she too was super sweet at the trials but I never felt completely happy when they were done. I also felt that I spent so much on the trial ($100) that I would be losing out by not using her. At the end of the day, I used her but did not feel confident my wedding day. I wished I would have gone and did trials with someone else instead of feeling the pressure of the fact that she had a good reputation and I had already spent so much on the trial. The key is for you to be completely comfortable and love the way you look. I had the same feeling with my hair woman at the trial but on the wedding day, she far exceeded my expectations and I was so blown away with what she did with my hair that I almost forgot my makeup. But I always had the nagging feeling that the makeup just wasn't quite right. Go with your gut feeling. You should love it.
