Makeup trials and tipping

Makeup trials and tipping

If you have a makeup trial in a salon should you tip the person? Trials for hair and makeup quickly add up! Ordinarily if it was in my home I wouldn't tip for a makeup trial but since i had to book an appointment at the salon for it i am unsure. Help!

I tipped about $10 for every half hour...I think that is on the high end, but Ive known the woman for a long time and I was a waitress so I end up ALWAYS overtipping...

I completely overlooked tipping my makeup person during the trial (I feel so bad), so I will make up for it on my wedding day. I didn't think about it until someone else posted a while back that if someone works in a salon you should tip them even during the trial, b/c you're paying the salon. If the person has her own business, it's a different story. I think in general if the vendor owns his/ her business, it's up to you to tip, but usually people don't (you wouldn't tip a restaurant owner, but you would tip the waiter).
